Introduction of Maharashtra Namo Shetkari Maha Samman Nidhi Yojana: A Brief Insight
Farmers in India often face income instability due to various factors such as unpredictable weather, crop yield fluctuations, and changing market prices. To address this issue, the Government of India launched the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme in 2019, providing Rs. 6,000 per year to farmers.
However, the Maharashtra Government recognised that this amount alone was not sufficient for farmers. To provide additional financial support, the state introduced the Namo Shetkari Maha Samman Nidhi Yojana in 2023.
This scheme is implemented by the Agriculture Department of the Maharashtra Government.
Under the Namo Shetkari Maha Sanman Nidhi Yojana, the farmers receive an additional Rs. 6,000 per year, which is distributed in three equal instalments of Rs. 2,000. These instalments are transferred directly to the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of beneficiaries.
The installment schedule is designed to provide consistent financial support throughout the year. The first installment of Namo Shetkar Yojana is provided between April and July, the second between August and November, and the third between December and March.
With the combined benefits of both schemes, farmers receive a total of Rs. 12,000 annually, which helps them manage agricultural inputs, household expenses, and financial needs more efficiently.

The Maharashtra Government has already disbursed Rs. 8,893 crore to more than 97 lakh farmers under this scheme. It is estimated that over 1 crore farmers will benefit from this initiative.
The government has also launched the official portal of Namo Shetkari Maha Samman Nidhi Yojana, where farmers can check their beneficiary status and access their registration number.

This scheme is also known by different names such as “Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana” and its regional language versions. Farmers can contact the District Agriculture Office for any assistance related to the scheme.
The Maharashtra Government has also released multiple installments, including the 7th installment, where more than 91 lakh farmers received around ₹1,892 crore directly in their bank accounts.
On 25-03-2026. Maharashtra Government released the 8th installment of Namo Shetkari Maha Sanman Nidhi Yojana in which 89,75,298 Lakh farmers received more than Rs. 1,798 Crore Rupees.
From the year 2026-2027, the Maharashtra Government is set to launch a new farm loan waiver scheme named “Punyashlok Ahildevi Holkar Farmer Debt Waiver Scheme” in which farm loans up to Rs. 2 lakh will be waived off by the government.
