West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme

West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme is the major financial assistance scheme of the West Bengal Government for the welfare of Disabled/ Physically Handicapped Persons. A Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,000/- will be provided to those Disabled Persons who are declared medically unfit for doing physical work. This financial assistance will help the disabled person to manage and take care of their daily expenses.

Introduction of West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme: A Brief Insight

• West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme is a financial assistance scheme for the welfare of Disabled/ Physically Handicapped Persons of West Bengal.
• It was started in the year 2010.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide financial security to Disabled/ Physically Handicapped Persons of West Bengal.
• Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare of the Government of West Bengal is the responsible department of Disability Pension Scheme.
• Under the West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme, the West Bengal Government will provide a monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- to eligible Disabled Persons of West Bengal.
• Disabled persons can use this monthly pension to take care of their daily expenses.
• Physically Handicapped Persons residing in West Bengal permanently or for a minimum period of 10 Years are eligible to apply for Disability Pension of West Bengal.
• Monthly Income of the disabled person should not be more than Rs. 1,000/- per Month.
• Eligible Beneficiary can apply for Disability Pension Scheme or the Handicapped Pension Scheme by filling out the Offline Application Form of West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme.
• There is no Online Application of the West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme is available.
• Applicants can also check the Status of Disability Pension Scheme Application by visiting the West Bengal Pension Scheme Portal.The
• Eligible Applicant list of West Bengal Disability Pension will be available after verification at the office of the Block Development Officer.
• If the applicant is a beneficiary of other pension schemes of the West Bengal Government such as “Old Age Pension Scheme” or “Widow Pension Scheme” then he/she is not eligible to apply for disabled pension under this scheme.
• Applicant can submit their Grievance of Disability Pension Scheme (if any) on West Bengal Pension Scheme Portal.
• West Bengal Government renamed the name of this scheme to “Manabik Pension Scheme”.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• The following financial assistance as a monthly pension will be provided to Eligible Disabled/ Physically Handicapped Persons of West Bengal under its Disability Pension Scheme :-
  

  Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,000/- (One Thousand Rupees Only) per Month.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The following eligibility conditions are set by the Government of West Bengal to avail the benefit of a monthly pension under Disability Pension Scheme :-
  

  Applicant Should be a Permanent Resident of West Bengal. OR Applicant Should be Residing in West Bengal for 10 Years. Applicant Should be a Disabled/ Physically Handicapped Person. The Monthly Income of a disabled person should be below Rs. 1,000/- per Month. Applicant should not be a recipient of any other Government Financial Assistance.

Documents Required to be Attached

• The following documents will be required to avail the benefit of monthly financial assistance as a pension under Disability Pension Scheme of the West Bengal Government :-
  

  Any One Identity Proof of Disable/ PH Applicant:- Voter Identity Card. PAN Card. Passport. Ration Card. Disability Certificate. Medical Certificate from Medical Officer. (If there is No Disability Certificate) Applicant Aadhar Card. Annual Income Certificate. Bank Account Details.

How Beneficiaries Can Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Eligible Physically Handicapped Beneficiaries can apply for Disability Pension by filling the Offline Application Form.
• Application Form of West Bengal Government’s Disability Pension Scheme is available free of cost at any of the following offices :-
  • Office of the Controller of Vagrancy. (In the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Area).
  • Office of the Block Development Officer or Panchayat Samiti. (In Rural Area).
  • Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer. (In Urban Area).
• Take the Application Form from any of the above-mentioned offices and fill it carefully.
• Attach all the documents with the application form.
• Submit the Application Form of Disability Pension Scheme along with all the documents in the same office from where it was collected.
• Application Form along with all the Documents will be scrutinized by the Block Development Officer or Sub Divisional Officer.
• After initial verification, the application of Disability Pension Scheme will be forwarded to the office ofthe  District Magistrate for final approval.
• After final approval from the District Magistrate’s Office, the monthly disability pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month under the West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme will be transferred to the given bank account of the Disabled Beneficiary every month.
• Disable Beneficiaries can also check the Status of their Disability Pension Application by entering the Application ID on West Bengal Pension Scheme Official Website.
