Introduction of Maharashtra Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana: A Brief Insight
- Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana is a major welfare scheme started by the Maharashtra Government for senior citizens of the State.
- It was launched on 29-06-2024.
- The main objective of the government behind launching this scheme is to fulfill the dream of visitng the famous religious places of those senior citizens who belong to the economically weaker section.
- Social Justice & Special Assistance Department of the Maharashtra Government is the implementing department of this scheme.
- Government of Maharashtra will now arrange free-of-cost visits to religious places across India for senior citizens of the State.
- Any person whose age is 60 years or above, who belongs to any religion, can now travel to one of the 139 religious places of their choice under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana of the Government of Maharashtra.
- All the expenses incurred on travel, food, and accommodation will be borne by the Maharashtra Government.
- Travelling will be arranged in 3AC compartments of Indian Railways or AC Buses, whichever is suitable to reach the destination.
- This is an all-expense trip in which breakfast, lunch, evening tea, dinner and stay at well-maintained accommodation during the whole religious tour will be covered.
- This whole religious tour will be organized with the help of tour agencies and the Maharashtra Government will spend Rs. 30,000/- per person per visit under the Chief Minister Teerth Darshan Scheme.
- Any additional expenses incurred during the journey will be paid by the applicant itself.
- The government also allows taking one attendant whose age is between 21 years to 50 years with those senior citizens whose age is 75 years or more.
- At present, No Official Website or Online Application Form of Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana ofthe Maharashtra Government is available.
- The government will launch the official website and mobile app of this scheme very soon.
- Applicant senior citizens can apply for Mukhymantri Teerth Darshan Scheme through Offline Application Form or by visiting their nearest Setu Centre/ Setu Kendra.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Maharashtra Government, under its Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana, will provide the following benefits to all eligible applicants :-
- Free of Cost Visit to Famous Pilgrimage Places across India.
- Senior Citizens of Maharashtra can visit 139 religious places free of cost.
- Attendant Facility is available for Senior Citizens aged above 75 years.
- Government will spend a maximum Rs. 30,000/- per person per visit,t which includes food, travel and accommodation.
- Additional Expenses, if any, will be borne by the applicant themselves.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Benefits of of free-of-cost visit to religious places across India will be provided to those beneficiaries who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Maharashtra Government’s Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana :-
- Permanent Resident Senior Citizens of Maharashtra are Eligible.
- Age should be 60 years or more than 60 years.
- Family Annual Income should be less than Rs. 2,50,000/-.
- Benefits will be provided once in a lifetime.
- People who belong to any religion are eligible to apply.
- Voluntary Workers, Contract Workers, and Outsourced Employees whose annual income is less than Rs. 2,50,000/- are eligible.
Ineligibility Conditions of the Scheme
- If any applicant falls within any of the below-mentioned categories, then he/ she is not eligible to apply for the benefits of Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana of the Government of Maharashtra :-
- An income taxpayer in a family.
- Family Member is a current or former MP or MLA.
- Family Member is a serving or retired State or Central Government Employee.
- Family has a four-wheeler. (Tractors are Exempted)
- If the Applicant is suffering from any transmissible disease like :-
- TB.
- Coronary Insufficiency.
- Cardiorespiratory Disease.
- Coronary Thrombosis.
- Mental Illness.
- Infectious Leprosy etc.
- Selected earlier in this scheme but not travelled.
Documents Required to be Attached
- Applicant senior citizens will have to submit the following documents with the Application Form of Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana of the Maharashtra Government to avail the benefit of a free-of-cost visit to religious places :-
- Applicant Aadhaar Card.
- Family Ration Card.
- Certificate of Income/ AAY Card or PHH Card.
- Birth Certificate of Applicant. (If Available)
- Voter Identity Card.
- Recent Color Passport Size Photo.
- Medical Certificate. (Not more than 15 Days Old)
- Mobile Number and Email.
- Hamipatra. (Self Declaration)
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Senior Citizens of Maharashtra can apply to visit famous pilgrimage places without any cost under Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana through the following ways :-
- Through the Online Application Form.
- Through the Offline Application Form.
Online Application Process through the Official Website
- Beneficiary Senior Citizens cannot directly apply for the Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana of the Maharashtra Government.
- Setu Centres across Maharashtra facilitate the senior citizens and fill out their online application form of the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana.
- Senior citizens of Maharashtra can visit their nearest Setu Centre with all their documents and contact the operator present there.
- The operator can fill Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana Online Application Form and upload the documents.
- An acknowledgement will be provided to senior citizens after the successful submission of the application form.
- Submitted Application Form and documents will be scrutinized by the District Level Committee.
- Travel Agencies empanalled by the Social Welfare Department will organize the religious visits.
- Maharashtra Government will pay Rs. 30,000/- per person per place to travel agencies for conducting visits to religious places.
- Contact the District’s Assistant Commissioner’s Office in case of any help or assistance required regarding the Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Scheme of the Government of Maharashtra.

- In the coming days, the Maharashtra Government also plans to launch the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana Official Website and Mobile Application for applicants through which they can apply directly.
Offline Application Process through CSC Centre
- Senior Citizens of Maharashtra can also apply for Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana through an Offline Application Form.
- Offline Application Form of Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana can be collected free of cost from the Office of the Assistant Commissioner of the Social Welfare Department of the respective District.
- Take the Application Form and fill it out correctly.
- Attach all the required documents with the application form.
- Submit Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana Application Form along with all the documents in the same office of the District’s Assistant Commissioner.
- District Level Committee will verify the received application forms and documents.
- A list of Eligible Senior Citizens will be made by selecting them through a lottery.
- Senior Citizens list selected for a free pilgrimage place visit will be forwarded to the Commissioner of the Social Welfare Department.
- The list will also be shared with the travel agencies to make arrangements for travelling.
- The date and Time of travel will be shared with senior citizens on their registered mobile number through SMS.
- Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana Application Status can be checked by visiting the District Office of the Assistant Commissioner.
