Introduction of Bihar Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana: A Brief Insight

• Bihar Government operates a lot of welfare schemes for the people of the State, which can directly or indirectly improve their living status.
• One of the most prominent social security schemes of the Bihar Government is “Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana”.
• This scheme is specifically started for the senior citizens of the State with an objective to uplift their financial status by providing them monthly pension.
• Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana is implemented by the Social Welfare Department of the Bihar Government.
• Monthly Financial Assistance as a pension will be provided to all eligible senior citizens who are 60 years or older.
• Pension Amount of Rs. 1,100/- per month will be given to each eligible applicant who is not a beneficiary of any other financial assistance pension scheme of the Central or State Government.
• Earlier, the amount of pension is Rs. 400/- per month to people in the age group of 60 to 79 years and Rs. 500 per month to people of 80 years or more.
• But this amount of pension is not enough for them to take care of their daily expenses.
• So on 24-06-2025, the Bihar Cabinet gave its approval and increased this pension amount to Rs. 1,100/- per month under the Chief Minister Vridhjan Pension Scheme.
• Through the same cabinet decision, the Pension Amount of “Laxmi Bai Samajik Suraksha Yojana” for widows and “State Disability Pension Scheme” for the Disabled has also increased to Rs. 1,100/- per month.
• Now each senior citizen of Bihar will receive the Old Age Pension of Rs. 1,100/- per month.
• According to Government data, around 49,89,507 people receive Rs. 55269.11 Lakh per month pension under Bihar CM Vridhjan Pension Yojana directly in their Bank Account.
• There are two ways through which senior citizens can apply for the Bihar Government’s Old Age Pension Scheme named “Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana”.
• First is through the Online Application Form, which is available on the Security Pension Management Information System (SSPMIS) Portal.
• And the second one is through the Offline Application Form, which is available free of cost at the RTPS counter at the Gram Panchayat Office.
• Beneficiary Applicant can contact the Gram Panchayat Office or their District Social Welfare Office or BDO in case any help or assistance is required regarding Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana of the Bihar Government.
• Female Members of the Applicant’s Family can also apply for “Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana” of the Government of Bihar, in which financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- will be provided to start their own self-employment business activity.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Bihar Government under its Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana (Senior Citizen Pension Scheme) will provide the following monthly assistance as a pension to all eligible senior citizens of the state whose age is 60 years or more :-
  • Monthly Financial Assistance as a Pension will be provided to Senior citizens of Bihar.
  • Rs. 1,100/- per month will be provided to all eligible persons of 60 years or more.
  • MVPY of Bihar is a DBT Scheme in which a monthly pension will be directly transferred into the bank account of the beneficiary.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,100/- per month will be provided to only those persons who meet the following eligibility criteria of Mukyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana of the Government of Bihar :-
  • Permanent Residents of Bihar are Eligible to Apply.
  • The Age of the Applicant should be 60 years or more than 60 years.
  • An old-age applicant should not be a Beneficiary of any other pension scheme.

Documents Required to be Attached

• The documents mentioned below will be required by the applicant senior citizen at the time of applying for a monthly pension under the Bihar Government’s Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana :-
  • 2 Color Passport Size Photo.
  • Applicant Aadhaar Card.
  • Voter Identity Card of the Applicant.
  • Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
  • Certificate of Income.
  • Mobile Number.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Senior Citizens of Bihar whose age is 60 years or more can apply for a monthly pension of Rs. 1,100/- per month under Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana through the following ways :-
  • Online through the SSPMIS Portal.
  • Through the Offline Application Form.

Online Application Process of MVPY

• Beneficiary Applicant of Bihar whose age is 60 years or more can apply for the Bihar Government’s Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana through the Online Application Form.
• Bihar Government has a dedicated portal named the Security Pension Management Information System (SSPMIS) on which applicants can apply for a monthly pension online.
• Visit the Portal and Click on Register for MVPY.
  
• Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana Online Application Form will appear in front of the applicant’s screen.
• Filled District Name, Click Name, EPIC Number, Name, Aadhaar Number and Date of Birth and Click on Validate Aadhaar.
  
• The portal will validate the Aadhaar Card Number with OTP authentication.
• Click on the proceed button after the portal verifies the Aadhaar card number.
• Further detailed application form of Bihar CM Vridhjan Pension Yojana will appear in which the beneficiary applicant will have to fill the below-mentioned details :-
  • Applicant’s Personal Details.
  • Applicant’s Residential Address.
  • Aadhaar Card and EPIC Details.
  • Upload all the Documents.
• It is mandatory to upload the Aadhaar Consent Form on the portal at the time of applying for the monthly pension.
• Preview the filled information once and click on the submit application form.
• Application Form of Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Scheme of the Bihar Government will be submitted and sent to the Gram Panchayat for Verification.
• Gram Panchayat will forward the application form and documents to the Directorate of Social Welfare of the Bihar Government after initial verification.
• Rs. 1,100/- per month pension amount will be directly transferred to the bank account of the senior citizen after the Directorate gives its final approval.

Offline Application Process of MVPY

• Bihar State’s old-age people can also apply for the monthly pension of Rs. 1,100/- under the Bihar Government’s Vridhjan Pension Yojana through an Offline Application Form.
• Every Gram Panchayat has an RTPS counter from where the beneficiary applicant can collect the Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana Offline Application Form free of cost.
• Take the application form from the Gram Panchayat Office and fill it properly without making any mistakes.
• The applicant will have to attach all the required documents to the Application Form.
• Attaching the Voter Identity Card and the Aadhaar Card is mandatorily required with the form.
• Submit the Bihar CM Vridhjan Pension Yojana Application Form along with all the documents in the same RTPS counter at the Gram Panchayat in 2 copies.
• Submitted application forms and documents will be initially verified by the officials of the Gram Panchayat.
• The list of eligible and selected applicants found eligible for the monthly pension will be forwarded to the Social Welfare Directorate.
• Directorate Officials will further scrutinize the received application form and documents.
• Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,100/- under the Government of Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Old Age Pension Scheme will be transferred directly to the Aadhaar-linked bank account of the beneficiary applicant.
