Introduction of Tripura Chief Minister Annual State Award for Academic Excellence: A Brief Insight

• Tripura Government launched the Chief Minister’s Annual State Award for Academic Excellence in 2018.
• The main objective of the government behind starting this scheme is to encourage students to focus on their studies more by including techology in it.
• This initiative has also appreciated and recognised the efforts of meritorious/ topper students of the state.
• Directorate of Secondary Education of the Tripura Government is the implementing agency of this scheme.
• Meritorious Topper Students of Class 10th and Class 12th who passed their board examination from Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will now receive free Apple iPads/ Tablets under the Chief Minister Annual State Award for Academic Excellence.
• Tablets/ Apple iPad will be distributed separately to each topper of Class 10th and Class 12th.
• To expand the coverage of the CM Annual State Award for Academic Excellence Scheme, the Tripura Government has a category of topper students based on their social status.
• Apart from 5 topper students, 5 topper students from Girls, ST, ST, OBC and Religious Minority groups will also be selected for the distribution of free Apple iPads/ Tablets under the Tripura Government’s Chief Minister Annual State Award for Academic Excellence.
• Further, the highest scorer in the following 23 subjects in the Class 10th board examination will also be considered for the award of a free Tablet/ Apple iPad under the CM Annual State Award for Academic Excellence Scheme :-

  • Music.
  • Physics.
  • Chemistry.
  • Biology.
  • Mathematics.
  • Education.
  • Political Science.
  • Geography.
  • History.
  • Bengali.
  • Philosophy.
  • Home Management and Home Science.
  • Nutrition.
  • Psychology.
  • Sanskrit.
  • Accountancy.
  • Business Studies.
  • Economics.
  • Hindi.
  • Sociology.

• On 26 August 2025, the Chief Minister of Tripura Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha attends the award distribution ceremony of the CM Annual State Award for Academic Excellence.
• Chief Minister himself has distributed the award to 5 students and a total of 228 students will receive the free tablet/Apple iPad in this ceremony under the Government of Tripura’s Chief Minister Annual Award for Academic Excellence.
• Students don’t have any need to apply to receive free tablets under this scheme, nor is any application process for the CM Annual State Award for Academic Excellence is available.
• The District Education Officer will prepare a list of topper students and forward it to the Directorate for the sanctioning of Tablets/ Apple iPads.
• Contact the DEO in case any help or assistance is required regarding this scheme.
• Students of Class 10th can also apply for the “Super 30 Scheme” of the Tripura Government, in which financial support will be provided for the preparation of JEE/ NEET.
• And, in “Chief Minister Sath Scheme”, the Tripura Government is providing a monthly scholarship to topper students of Class 10th and Class 12th.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Tripura Government will provide the following benefits to the topper students under its Chief Minister Annual State Award for Academic Excellence :-
  • Free of Cost Tablets/ iPads will be provided.
  • Each Topper Student of Class 10th and Class 12th will receive an Apple iPad/Tablet.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Free of Cost Apple iPad/ Tablet under the Chief Minister Annual State Award for Academic Excellence will be provided to only those students who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of the scheme :-
  

  Permanent Resident Students of Tripura are Eligible for the Award. Students should be toppers who passed their Class 10th and Class 12th from TBSE or CBSE. The following number of Students from Class 10th and Class 12th each will be selected for award :- 5 Topper Students. 5 Top Scoring Girls. 5 Top Scoring ST Students. 5 Top Scoring SC Students. 5 Top Scoring Religious Minority Students. 5 Top Scoring OBC Students. Class 10th Highest Scorer of 23 Subjects. Topper Student should be a student of any one of the following schools :- Government Schools. Government Aided Schools. Vidyajoti Schools.

Documents Required to be Attached

• The following documents will be required at the time of collecting the Apple iPad/ Tablet under the Tripura Government’s Chief Minister Annual State Award for Academic Excellence :-
  • Class 10th/ Class 12th Marksheet.
  • Class 10th/Class 12th Certificate.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Recent Color Photo.
  • Or Any Identity Proof.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• There is no need to separately apply for the Tripura Government’s Chief Minister Annual State Award for Academic Excellence.
• On the basis of the board results of Class 10th and Class 12th, the District Education Officer will prepare a list of topper students.
• The list of topper students selected for the Chief Minister Annual State Award for Academic Excellence of the Tripura Government will then be forwarded to the Directorate of Secondary Education.
• Directorate of Secondary Education will then procure the Apple iPads/ Tablets as per the number of eligible students.
• The department will then organize a public function in which the distribution of Apple iPad/ Tablets to top students will take place.
• A selected student must visit the function with the required documents.
• Selected Topper Students will then receive the State-of-the-Art Apple iPad/ Tablet in a public function under the Government of Tripura’s Chief Minister Annual State Award for Academic Excellence.
