Introduction of PM SVANidhi Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • The Central Government launched the PM SVANidhi Scheme in the year 2020.
  • The full name of this scheme is “PM Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi” Scheme, which is a micro credit facility for street vendors.
  • As the name suggests that this scheme is specifically for street vendors.
  • A street vendor is a person who is engaged in vending of articles, goods, wares, food items, or offering services to the public in a street, footpath or pavement from a temporary built-up structure or by moving the cart from one place to another.
  • The main objective of the Central Government behind launching the PM SVANidhi Scheme is to provide financial support to above mentioned street vendors so that they can grow their business and earn a dignified livelihood.
  • Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Central Government.
  • A short-term working capital loan of Rs. 15,000/-, Rs. 25,000/- and Rs. 50,000/- will be provided through lending institutions to eligible street vendors under the PM SVANidhi Scheme.
  • Initial loan offering is Rs. 15,000/-, when applicants repay this loan amount within time, then the second tranche of Rs. 25,000/- is applicable to be taken as a loan.
  • Similarly, when the applicant repays the loan amount of the second tranche of Rs. 25,000/-, then he/ she is eligible to receive the third tranche loan amount of Rs. 50,000/-.
  • Earlier the loan amount underthe  PM SVANidhi Scheme is Rs. 10,000/-, Rs. 20,000/- and Rs. 50,000/- and the deadline of this scheme was 31-12-2024.
  • But om 27-08-2025, the Central Government Cabinet took a bold decision by increasing the loan amount and the implementation deadline of the scheme.
  • Now the current loan amount under the PM SVANidhi Scheme is Rs. 15,000/-, Rs. 25,000/- and Rs. 50,000/- and the scheme implementation has been extended till 2030.
  • Central Government also introduced a new feature in this scheme in which a UPI-linked credit Card will be issued to beneficiary street vendors up to Rs. 30,000/- limit.
  • Central Government is also providing an interest subsidy of 7% on disbursed loans under the Prime Minister SVANidhi Scheme.
  • To encourage digital transactions, monthly cashback from Rs. 50/- to Rs. 100/- will also be provided to street vendors on completing a specific number of digital transactions in a month.
  • The loan repayment period under the PM SVANidhi Scheme is 1 year and there will be no collateral security is required to secure the loan.
  • Street Vendors who supplied good such as vegetables, fruits, ready to eat street food, tea, pakodas, breads, eggs, textile, apparel, artisan products, books/ stationary etc. and services like barber shops, cobblers, pan shops, laundy services etc are eligible to receive short term working capital loan up to Rs. 50,000/- under PM SVANidhi Scheme.
  • To date, 1,25,25,596 applications have been submitted out of which 98,88,011 applications have been sanctioned and 96,34,332 applicants have received the disbursed amount of the loan.

  • Street Vendors can apply for the PM SVANidhi Scheme in two ways, first one is through the Official Portal and second one is through the Official Mobile App.
  • All process is online, no need to submit any documents offline.
  • Contact the State Nodal Officer of the PM SVANidhi Scheme in case any help or assistance is required.
  • Artisans and Craftspersons in a family of street vendors can also apply for “PM Vishwakarma Yojana” in which skill training and financial assistance to purchase a toolkit will be provided.

  • The following is the categories of Street Vendors who are eligible under the PM SVANidhi Scheme to receive short-term working capital with other benefits. Any street vendor mentioned below is eligible to apply for this scheme :-
    • Vegetable Seller.
    • Cobblers.
    • Pan Shop Owners.
    • Thelewala.
    • Hawkers.
    • Rehriwala.
    • Theli Phadwala.
    • Service Providers like Barber Shops.
    • Laundry Services.
    • Any Vendor working in Temporary Structures.

PM SVANidhi Scheme Details

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • Central Government under its PM SVANidhi Scheme will provide the following benefits to all eligible street vendors :-
    • Street Vendors will receive a short-term working capital loan for their business.
    • The amount of short-term working capital loan disbursed to street vendors are :-
      • Rs. 15,000/- (First Time)
      • Rs. 25,000/- (Who repaid the First Loan)
      • Rs. 50,000/- (Who repaid the Second Loan)
    • There will be no collateral security or mortgage is required.
    • Benefit of 7% Interest Subsidy to those Street Vendors who repay the loan in time or early.
    • Credit Card linked with UPI with Rs. 30,000/- limit will be issued to Street Vendors.
    • Street Vendors will also receive monthly cashback on digital transactions.

Monthly Cashback Amount for Digital Transactions

  • Beneficiary Street Vendors of the PM SVANidhi Scheme can receive cashback on every digital transaction they receive in their bank account. The criteria for disbursing the cashback, which is proportional to the number of digital transactions, are as follows :-
    • Rs. 50/- for 50 Monthly Digital Transactions.
    • Rs. 75/- for 100 Monthly Digital Transactions.
    • Rs. 100/- for 200 Monthly Digital Transactions.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • Short Term Loan up to Rs. 50,000/- with other multiple benefits will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of PM SVANidhi Scheme of the Central Government :-
    • Persons engaged in Vending in Urban Areas are Eligible to Apply.
    • Any vendor who possesses the following certificates :-
      • Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) issued a Certificate of Vending or an Identity Card.
      • Town Vending Committee (TVC) issued a Letter of Recommendation.
      • No Vending Certificate of Identity Card by the Vendor name is in the Survey List.
      • Town Vending Committee or Urban Local Body issued a Letter of Recommendation (LOR).

  • Beneficiary Street Vendor will be required to provide the following documents at the time of applying for a short-term business loan under the Central Government’s PM SVANidhi Scheme :-
    • Applicant’s Aadhaar Card.
    • Survey Reference Number.
    • Any one document as a proof of Street Vending :-
      • Identity Card of the Vendor.
      • TVC Letter of Recommendation.
      • Vending Certificate from the competent authority.
    • Document required for KYC (any one) :-
      • Voter ID Card.
      • PAN Card.
      • MGNREGA Card.
      • Aadhaar Card.
      • Driving License.
    • Current Passport Size Photo.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

Through the PM SVANidhi Scheme Official Portal

  • Central Government had launched the PM SVANidhi Scheme Official Website through which eligible street vendors can apply for a short-term working capital loan up to Rs. 50,000/-.
  • Open the PM SVANidhi Portal, hover on Apply for Loan and select the amount of loan for which the applicant will have to apply.

  • First-time applicants will only apply for a Rs. 15,000/- loan. Applicants who repay the first loan of Rs. 15,000/- can apply for a Rs. 25,000/- loan and those applicants who repay the loan amount of Rs. 25,000/- can apply for a Rs. 50,000/- working loan.
  • Mobile Number is a must for registration.
  • Enter your mobile number and verify it through OTP.
    Registration of PM SVANidhi Scheme
  • Online Application Form of PM SVANidhi Scheme will appear on the screen of the applicant.
  • PM SVANidhi Scheme Online Application Form will have to be filled in 4 steps which are :-
    • Check Vendor Category/ Eligibility.
    • Fill Online Application Form.
    • Upload Documents.
    • Submit Application.
  • Check all the filled details and submit the Application Form of Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme.
  • Submitted Application Form along with all the documents, will be verified by the lending institutions/ banks.
  • Eligible Street Vendors will be contacted by the bank for verification and disbursement of the loan amount.
  • After successful verification, the amount of the loan under the PM SVANidhi Scheme will be transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiary street vendor.
  • The loan repayment period of Prime Minister SVANidhi Yojana is 1 year.
  • Once the beneficiary street vendor repays the amount of loan, then he is eligible to apply for the next tranche.

  • Beneficiary Street Vendors can also apply for the PM SVANidhi Scheme through its Mobile App.
  • Download the Official Mobile Application of Pradhan Mantri Svandhi Scheme from the Google Play Store.

  • Enter your mobile number for registration and verify it through OTP.

  • After verification of the mobile number, a dashboard will appear in which 3 categories of loans underthe  PM SVANidhi Scheme will appear.
  • Select the amount click on apply.

  • Fill the Online Application Form of Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme and upload all the required documents.
  • Submit the application form after checking all the filled details.
  • Lending Institutions/ Banks will verify the received application forms and documents and disburse the amount of the loan under the PM SVANidhi Scheme directly into the bank account of the beneficiary street vendor.
  • The loan application of the beneficiary street vendor will be approved within 30 days of submitting the application.

Application Status Check Online

  • After applying for a short-term loan under the PM SVANidhi Scheme, the applicant street vendor can also track the application status online.
  • Open the portal, click on Track Application Status.
  • Enter Application Number, Mobile Number and click on search.

  • Mobile Number of the Applicant will be verified by the portal through OTP.
  • PM SVANidhi Scheme Application Status will come on screen after mobile number verification.

How to Change Mobile Number

  • PM SVANidhi Scheme Portal has provided the facility in which beneficiary street vendors can change their already registered Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
  • Enter the Aadhaar Card Number and verify it through OTP.

  • After Aadhaar card verification, enter your old and new numbers and click on update.
  • Mobile Number will be changed in the Pradhan Mantri Svandhi Scheme Database.

Check Name in Vendor Survey List

  • Beneficiary applicant can also check their name in the Vendor Survey List of the PM SVANidhi Scheme before applying for a short-term working capital loan.
  • Enter your state name, Urban Local Body Name, Voter Identity Card Number, Vending Certificate Number, Name of Street Vendor, Father/ Spouse Name and Mobile Number.
