Benefits of Mukhyamantri Naunihaal Chhatravritti Yojana

Introduction of Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Naunihaal Chhatravritti Yojana: A Brief Insight

A construction worker earns his daily wages by building homes for others. But when it comes to his own children’s education, every school fee, every college admission fee feels like a heavy burden. A small financial push every year can keep a child in school and help them move forward. That is the idea behind Mukhyamantri Naunihaal Chhatravritti Yojana.

The Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, under the Labour Department of the Chhattisgarh Government, launched this scholarship scheme on 04 March 2010. It provides an annual lump sum scholarship to the first two children of registered construction workers, from Class 1 all the way through PhD and research-level courses.

The scholarship amount depends on the class or course the child is studying in. Boys receive between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 8,000 per year, while girls receive between Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 10,000 per year. Girls receive a higher amount than boys at every level. There is no minimum mark requirement to apply.

To be eligible, the parent must be a registered construction worker under the Chhattisgarh BOCW Welfare Board and must have worked for at least 90 days in the one year before the application date. Only the first two children per worker can avail this benefit. Children studying under the Bal Shram project are also eligible.

Applications open at the start of every academic session and must be submitted by 31 December. Workers can apply online at shramevjayate.cg.gov.in, through the Shramev Jayate mobile app, or by visiting a nearby Choice Centre or Labour Office. After approval, the scholarship transfers directly to the worker’s or child’s bank account through RTGS, NEFT, or DBT.

One important condition to keep in mind is that a student eligible for a scholarship under any other government scheme must choose only one. Both scholarships cannot be availed at the same time. Engineering and Medical students who drop out within one year of admission must also return the scholarship amount received.

Workers whose daughters are aged 18 to 21 years and have passed Class 10 can also check the Mukhyamantri Noni Sashaktikaran Sahayata Yojana, which provides a one-time financial grant of Rs. 20,000 directly to the daughter’s bank account for education, employment, or marriage. Meritorious students looking for higher financial support based on their academic performance can explore the Mukhyamantri Noni Babu Medhavi Shiksha Sahayata Yojana, which provides assistance up to Rs. 1,00,000 per year, along with study abroad support of Rs. 50,00,000.

Important Note for College-Going Daughters

A daughter of a registered construction worker who is between 18 and 21 years of age and studying in college may be eligible for both Mukhyamantri Naunihaal Chhatravritti Yojana and Mukhyamantri Noni Sashaktikaran Sahayata Yojana at the same time.

However, in the same financial year a daughter receives the benefit under Mukhyamantri Noni Sashaktikaran Sahayata Yojana, she becomes ineligible for Naunihaal Chhatravritti and Noni Babu Medhavi scholarship for that same academic year. She must choose one scheme for that year based on what benefits her the most.

Mukhyamantri Noni Sashaktikaran Sahayata Yojana provides a one-time grant of Rs. 20,000 directly to the daughter’s bank account for education, employment, self-employment, or marriage. If the daughter needs a larger one-time amount immediately, this scheme may be more beneficial. If she wants to receive an annual scholarship every year through her studies, Naunihaal Chhatravritti is the better choice.
