Introduction of Chhattisgarh Rani Durgavati Yojana: A Brief Insight

• Rani Durgavati Yojana was announced by the Chhattisgarh Government in the Budget 2026-2027.
• The government will start this scheme in the same financial year.
• The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial security to newborn girl children and to support their future education and marriage expenses.
• The Department of Women and Child Development of the Government of Chhattisgarh will implement and manage this scheme.
• Under this scheme, the government will issue a Monetary Assurance Certificate in the name of the newborn girl child at the time of her birth.
• The government will register the girl child under this scheme immediately after her birth.
• The government will provide financial assistance of Rs. 1,50,000 to the girl child when she attains the age of 18 years.
• The beneficiary can claim this amount only after she turns 18 years old.
• She can use this financial assistance to complete her higher education or to bear her marriage expenses.
• All newborn girl children in the state will be eligible for registration under this scheme as per the guidelines that the government will release at the time of official launch.
• The government has not yet clarified the detailed application process.
• If the government starts the process offline, then parents can obtain the application form from the nearest Anganwadi Centre or from the District Office of the Women and Child Development Department.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Chhattisgarh Government will provide the following benefits to all eligible newborn girl children under its newly announced Rani Durgavati Yojana :-
  • Monetary Assurance Certificate will be issued in the name of the Newborn Girl Child.
  • Rs. 1,50,000/- will be provided to the Girl Child when she attains the age of 18 years.
  • This assistance can be used to complete higher education or to bear the expenses of marriage.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The benefit of Rs. 1,50,000/- assistance on completing the age of 18 years will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the following eligibility criteria of Rani Durgavati Yojana of the Government of Chhattisgarh :-
  • Permanent Resident Applicants of Chhattisgarh are eligible to apply.
  • Only a newborn girl child is Eligible for Enrollment.
  • Registration under this scheme will be done at the time of birth of a girl child.
  • Financial Assistance can be claimed only after the girl child attained the age of 18 years.
  • The remaining eligibility criteria of the Scheme will be released after its launch.

• The expected documents that are required at the time of applying for the Rani Durgavati Yojana of the Chhattisgarh Government are mentioned below :-
  • Domicile of Chhattisgarh or Any Residence Proof.
  • Aadhaar Card of Parents.
  • Child Birth Certificate.
  • Family Income Certificate.
  • Mobile Number.
  • MAMTA Card.
  • Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
  • BPL Ration Card. (If Available)

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• The Chhattisgarh Government presented its budget for the financial year 2026-2027 in the State Assembly on 24-02-2026.
• In this budget, the government announced many welfare schemes and one of them is the Rani Durgavati Yojana.
• Right now the government has only announced this scheme in which it has said that when a baby girl is born, people will register her under this scheme.
• At present, the registration process of the Rani Durgavati Yojana is not clear.
• If registration under the Rani Durgavati Yojana happens through an offline application form then people can get the application form from the Anganwadi Centre or from the District Office of the Women and Child Development Department.
• If the application process of the Rani Durgavati Yojana becomes online then the government may also launch an online portal for this scheme.
• So the beneficiary will have to wait for the official launch of this scheme to receive its benefits.
