Introduction of Assam E-Rickshaw/ Moped Distribution Scheme for Linguistic Minorities: A Brief Insight

• Assam Government’s E-Rickshaw/ Moped Distribution Scheme for Linguistic Minorities is one of the prominent welfare schemes for the people of the state.
• The main objective behind starting this scheme is to support the unemployed people from the linguistic minority group to start self-employment activity.
• This scheme is implemented by the Linguistic Minorities Development Board of the Assam Government.
• Assam Government will now provide a free E-Rickshaw or Moped, as per the choice of the applicant under its E-Rickshaw/ Moped Distribution Scheme for Linguistic Minorities.
• This scheme is only started for people belongs to linguistic minorities; no religious minority community people are eligible to apply for E-Rickshaw or Moped under this scheme.
• The resident of Assam whose age is between 25 years and 50 years and whose family annual income is less Rs. 3,00,000/- is eligible to apply to receive free of cost E-Rickshaw or Moped under the Assam Government’s E-Rickshaw/ Moped Distribution Scheme for Linguistic Minorities.
• Beneficiaries can use this E-Rickshaw for commercial purposes as a source of earning and the moped can be used as a vehicle for app-based services.
• Interested applicants can apply for this scheme online from 1st of December 2025 to 30th of December 2025.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Government of Assam will provide the following benefits to all eligible beneficiaries under its E-Rickshaw/ Moped Distribution Scheme for Linguistic Minorities :-
  • Free of Cost E-Rickshaw or Moped will be provided to Beneficiaries.
  • E-Rickshaw or Moped provided under this scheme will be used only for commercial purposes.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Free of Cost Moped or E Rickshaw will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the below mentioned eligibility criteria of E-Rickshaw/ Moped Distribution Scheme for Linguistic Minorities of Government of Assam :-
  • Permanent and Current Residents of Assam are eligible to apply.
  • Applicant should be belong tothe  Linguistic Minorities Community and know how to drive an E-Rickshaw or Moped.
  • The Age of the Applicant should be between 25 years to 50 years.
  • If any Applicant belongs to a Religious Minorities Group (Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, Sikh, Jain and Parsi) then they are not eligible to apply.
  • The Annual Family Income of Applicant should not be more than Rs. 3 Lakh per year.
  • Rent or Lease of received E-Rickshaw or Moped is not allowed.
  • Beneficiary Applicant cannot sold the received E-Rickshaw or Moped within 3 years of allotment.

Ineligibility Criteria of the Scheme

• If any household or family members fall within the ambit of any one of the following ineligibility criteria, then they are not eligible to apply for a free Moped or E-Rickshaw under this scheme :-
  • Current Members of Panchayat Raj Institution and Urban Local Bodies.
  • Serving or Retired Employees of the Central or State Government.
  • Ministers.
  • Employees of Local Bodies or PSUs.
  • Serving Employees of Cooperative Societies.
  • Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Architects, Chartered Accountant and Registered Government Contractors.
  • Income Tax Payers.
  • Families having more than 15 Bighas of Agricultural Land.
  • Households owning a Tractor.
  • Household owning a Four Wheeler or a Mechanised Boat.
  • Applicant belongs to the Religious Minority Community.

  • Voter ID Card or PAN Card.
  • Driving License.
