Introduction of Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen Yojana: A Brief Insight
- Mandi Premises is the place where farmers (kisan) come to sell their produce which they load or unload it with the help of labourers (mazdoors).
- Due to non-availability of any food facility inside the mandi premises, farmers and labourers were do their breakfast and dinner outside at higher rates.
- Keeping these problems in mind, the Haryana Government started Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen Yojana 4 years back.
- The main aim of this scheme is to make sure farmers and labourers will get food at reasonable prices inside the mandi premises.
- Atal Food Canteens will be open in every district mandi premises under this scheme in which Food Plates at subsidized rates will be provided to Farmers and Labourers and other workers and member of mandi.
- The rate of Food Plate is just Rs. 10/- in Atal Food Canteens which are opened in Mandi Premises under Haryana Governments Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen Yojana.
- In the initial phase of this scheme, Atal Food Canteens had started at 25 places across Haryana.
- Till date 46 Atal Food Canteens is operational in Haryana and now current Chief Minister of Haryana Shri Nayab Singh Saini announced to start additional 40 Atal Food Canteens under Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen Yojana.
- State Agriculture Marketing Board of the Haryana Government will open Atal Food Canteens in all Mandi Premises by collaborating with State Rural Livelihood Mission.
- Newly opened Atal Food Canteens under the Government of Haryana’s Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen Yojana will now operated by Women Self Help Groups (SHGs)
- The food plates served to Farmers, Labourers and Other Members in Atal Food Canteens at Rs. 10/- will consist of the following items :-
- Dal.
- 4 Chapati. (Roti)
- Vegetable.
- Rice.
- This scheme has some other popular names also which are “Atal Farmer Labourer Canteen Scheme Haryana” or “Atal Kisan Majdoor Canteen Yojana Haryana” or “Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen Scheme Haryana”.
- Farmers (Kisan), Labourers (Mazdoors), Workers and Members of Mandi can visit Atal Food Canteens from 11:00 AM to 03:00 PM and avail the benefit of pure, fresh, nutritious and tasty food at just Rs. 10/- per plate.
- In case of any help or assistance required regarding scheme, beneficiaries can contact the members of mandi.
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Government of Haryana will provide the below-mentioned benefits to all eligible Farmers and Labourers under its Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen Yojana :-
- Food Canteens will be Opened in Every Mandi Premises.
- Food Plate at just Rs. 10/- will be Provided to Farmers and Labourers.
- Each Plate of Food Consists of Rice, 4 Roti (Chapati), Dal and Sabzi (Vegetable)
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Food Plate at just Rs. 10/- will only provided to those beneficiaries who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Haryana Government’s Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen Yojana :-
- Canteens will be Opened in Mandi Premises for Farmers and Labourers.
- Only Farmers (Kisan) and Labourers (Mazdoor) are Eligible to get Food Plate at Rs. 10/-.
- Workers Working in Mandi Premises will also get Food Plate.
- Members of Mandi Premises are also Eligible.

- In order to get a food plate at Rs. 10/- at Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen, any one of the following documents will be needed to be shown :-
- Aadhar Card.
- Kisan Card.
- Parivar Pehchan Patra.
- Mazdoor/ Shram Card.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Haryana Government will open Atal Food Canteens in every district mandi premises under its Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen Yojana.
- Atal Canteens will be operated inside the mandi premises in which fresh and nutritious food will be provided to Farmers (Kisan) and Labourers (Mazdoors).
- The operational time of Atal Food Canteens are from morning 11:00 AM to 03:00 PM in noon.
- Farmers, Labourers, Mandi Workers and Mandi Members can avail the benefit of fresh food at jut Rs. 10/- per plate by visiting Atal Food Canteens at given time.
- Workers present at Atal Food Canteens will distribute the tokens to beneficiaries after receiving Rs. 10/- from them.
- According to token numbers, beneficiaries can take food plates and avail the benefit of tasty foods.
