Introduction of Himachal Pradesh Indira Gandhi Matru Shishu Sankalp Yojana: A Brief Insight

• The Himachal Pradesh Government has launched the Indira Gandhi Matru Shishu Sankalp Yojana to improve the health of mothers and young children.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Himachal Pradesh Government under its Indira Gandhi Matru Shishu Sankalp Yojana will provide the following benefits to all eligible children, pregnant woman and lactating mothers of the State :-
  • High-Quality Supplementary Nutrition with Protein, Essential Calories and Micronutrients will be provided to beneficiaries.
  • Milk, Eggs and Fortified Food Premixes will be supplied to Improve Nutritional Intake.
  • Special Nutrition Support and Monitoring will be given to severely and Moderately Malnourished Children and Low Birth Weight Infants.
  • Early Identification, Referral and Follow-Up System will be Strengthened for High-Risk Beneficiaries.
  • Integrated Nutrition, Health and Care Services will be delivered through Coordinated Departmental Support.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The benefit of supplementary nutrition enriched with high quality protien, essential calories and micronutrients will be provided to those beneficiaries who fulfil the below mentioned eligibility criteria of India Gandhi Matru Shishu Sankalp Yojana of the Government of Himachal Pradesh :-
  • Permanent Resident Families of the State are Eligible to Apply.
  • Children below 6 Years of Age are Eligible for Supplementary Nutrition Support.
  • Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers are also Eligible to Receive Nutritional Assistance under this Scheme.
  • Severely and Moderately Acute Malnourished Children, Low Birth Weight Infants, and Identified High-Risk Groups will be Given Priority Coverage.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Eligible beneficiaries can apply for the Indira Gandhi Matru Shishu Sankalp Yojana through their nearest Anganwadi Centre.
• Applicants must visit the Anganwadi Centre and contact the Anganwadi Worker for enrollment under the Indira Gandhi Matru Shishu Sankalp Scheme.
• The Anganwadi Worker will verify eligibility and register the beneficiary under this scheme.
• Pregnant women and lactating mothers can enrol by submitting basic identification and health details.
• Parents or guardians must register children below 6 years of age at the Anganwadi Centre.
