Introduction of Madhya Pradesh Pashudhan Bima Yojana: A Brief Insight
- Pashudhan Bima Yojana is one of the welfare schemes of the Madhya Pradesh Government.
- The main objective of the MP Government behind starting this scheme is to provide financial protection cover to animals of the livestock owners of the state in case of sudden demise.
- This scheme will protect the farmers and cattle owners against the risk of the death of their animals.
- This scheme is implemented by the Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department of the Madhya Pradesh Government with the help of the State Livestock and Poultry Development Corporation.
- The benefit of Animal Insurance at subsidized rates will be provided to livestock owners under the Pashudhan Bima Yojana of the MP Government.
- The insurance covers various animals like cows, buffalo, camels, goat, camels, and more.
- But life insurance for animals under the Pashudhan Bima Yojana is not provided free of cost to livestock owners.
- The government is charging a nominal amount of insurance premium from livestock owners to insure their animals under the MP Govt Pashudhan Bima Scheme.
- The government divided applicants in two categories: the first is applicants above the poverty line and the other is SC, ST and BPL category applicants.
- Livestock owners belong to the above poverty line will have to pay 50% amount of the insurance premium under Pashudhan Bima Yojana.
- Whereas, SC, ST, BPL category livestock owners will have to pay the 30% amount of insurance premium under the Madhya Pradesh Government’s Pashudhan Beema Yojana.
- The remaining amount of the insurance premium will be paid by the Madhya Pradesh Government jointly with the Central Government.
- Each Livestock/ Cattle Owner can insure up to 5 animals under this scheme.
- The beneficiary can take the Application Form of Pashudhan Bima Yojana from the Gram Sabha or District Office of the Animal Husbandry Department or State Livestock and Poultry Development Corporation to avail the benefit of animal insurance.
- Contact the Chief Veterinary Office of the District in case any help or assistance is required regarding MP Pashudhan Bima Yojana.
- Senior Citizen Livestock Owners can also apply for “Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana” in which a free of cost visit to famous religious places will be provided by the Madhya Pradesh Government.
- Also, livestock owners who have cultivable agricultural land can apply for “Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana” in which additional financial assistance of Rs. 6,000/- will be provided to farmers.

- Government of Madhya Pradesh under its Pashudhan Bima Yojana will be provide life insurance cover to the below-mentioned animals of the livestock owners :-
- Milch Cow (Indigenous Breed)
- Milch Buffalo
- Horse
- Cow (Crossbreed)
- Camel
- Donkey
- Cattle (Male)
- Buffalo (Male)
- Pig
- Rabbit
- Goat
- Buffalo (Crossbreed)
- Any animal of the Livestock Owner
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Madhya Pradesh Government, under its Pashudhan Bima Yojana will provide the following benefits to all eligible livestock owners of the State :-
- Facility of Insurance of Animals of Livestock Owners on subsidized rates.
- Monetary Assistance from the Government in case of the sudden demise of an animal.
- Above Poverty Line category applicants will have to pay 50% amount of the premium.
- SC, ST and BPL category applicants will have to pay 30% amount of the premium.
- The remaining amount of the premium will be paid by the Government.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Livestock life insurance at subsidized rates will be provided to only those beneficiaries who meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of the Government of Madhya Pradesh’s Pashudhan Bima Yojana :-
- Permanent Resident Livestock Owners of Madhya Pradesh are Eligible.
- Livestock Owners should have an appropriate number of Animals.
- A maximum 5 Animals are eligible for Insurance under this scheme.
- A nominal amount of premium will have to be paid by the Livestock Owner.
Amount of Premium Payable
- Insurance of animals under the Pashudhan Bima Yojana of the Madhya Pradesh Government is not completely free.
- Livestock Owners will have to pay some part of the Insurance Premium.
- The other part of the premium will be paid jointly by Madhya Pradesh and the Central Government.
- The following are the payable amounts of insurance premiums under the Pashudhan Bima Yojana of the Government of Madhya Pradesh :-
Category Premium Paid - Above Poverty Line Applicant
- 50% out of the Total Premium Amount will be paid by the Livestock Owner.
- The remaining 50% will be paid by the Central and MP governments jointly.
- If the Applicant belongs to any one social category :-
- Scheduled Caste
- Scheduled Tribe
- Below Poverty Line
- 30% of the Total Premium Amount will be paid by the Livestock Owner.
- The remaining 70% will be paid by the MP and the Central Government in 40% + 30% format.
Documents Required to be Attached
- Livestock Owner will have to submit the following documents at the time of registration and at the time of claiming the insurance money under Pashudhan Bima Yojana of Madhya Pradesh Government :-
- Madhya Pradesh Permanent Proof of Residence.
- Applicant Aadhaar Card.
- Samagra ID of Applicant.
- Certificate of Caste.
- Recent Color Photograph.
- Photo of Livestock.
- Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
- Mobile Number and Email.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Eligible Livestock Owners can insure their animals under the Pashudhan Bima Yojana of the Madhya Pradesh Government by applying offline through the Application Form.
- From the below-mentioned government offices, the applicant livestock owner can collect the Madhya Pradesh Government’s Pashudhan Bima Yojana Application Form :-
- District Office of the Department of Animal Husbandry.
- District Office of State Livestock and Poultry Development Corporation.
- Gram Sabha or Gram Panchayat Office.
- Take the application form and fill it carefully without making any mistakes.
- The applicant livestock owner will have to attach all the mandatory documents to the application form.
- Pashudhan Bima Application Form and all the attached documents will have to be submitted in the same office.
- Officials of the State Livestock and Poultry Development Corporation of the Madhya Pradesh Government will verify the received official form and make a list of eligible livestock owners.
- Ground verification will also be done by the official with the member of the insurance company and the insured animal will be tagged by the officials.
- Insurance Company will also mark the animal insured at their end and generate the policy documents of Pashudhan Bima Yojana in favour of the livestock owner.
- It is mandatory for livestock owner to pay their part of the amount of premium to continue the benefit of life insurance of animals.
- The applicant livestock owner will have to claim the amount of insurance under Pashudhan Bima Yojana in case of the sudden demise of the insured animal.
How to Claim Insurance Money
- In case of the sudden demise of the insured animal, the financial assistance under Pashudhan Bima Yojana will be payable to the beneficiary livestock owner.
- Livestock owners will have to notify the Officials of the State Livestock and Poultry Development Corporation or the Officials of the Animal Husbandry Department as soon as the animal passes away.
- Government officials with the members of the insurance company, will visit the house of the livestock owner and the inspection/ postmortem of the animal corpse will be done.
- Officials of the Insurance Company will file the Claim under the Pashudhan Bima Yojana of the Government of Madhya Pradesh on behalf of the livestock owner.
- Insurance Company Official will attach the policy documents, postmortem report and photos of the dead animal with the claim form.
- Beneficiary Livestock owner will receive the amount of insurance equal to the cost of the animal under Pashudhan Bima Yojana.
