Introduction of Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana: A Brief Insight
- Government of Maharashtra has a dream to provide pucca houses to homeless people of State.
- Many People in Maharashtra still live in Kholi, Kuccha House or in Slum Areas.
- Some of them has a plot of land but due to poor financial condition they are not capable to build their dream house.
- Keeping these things in mind, Maharashtra Government takes an initiative and started lots of housing scheme in State with a tagline of “Homes for All”.
- Some of major housing scheme of Maharashtra are “Dhangar Awas Yojana”, “Adim Aawas Yojana”, “Ramai Aawas Yojana”, “Shabari Aawas Yojana”, “Yashwantrao Chavan Mukt Vasahat Yojana” and the last one is “Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana”.
- Each housing scheme is started by Maharashtra Government for specific category people who are in dire need of house.
- Through these schemes government will support financially poor people so that they can fulfill their dream of owning a house.
- While announcing the budget of the year 2023-2024, new housing scheme named “Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana” was announced by Government of Maharashtra.
- Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department is the implementing department of this scheme.
- The other major well-known names of this scheme are “Modi Aawas Gharkul Scheme” or “Mahrashtra Housing Financial Assistance Scheme for OBC”.
- Government plans to provide financial assistance for the construction of 10 Lakh houses in a time span of 3 years under Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana.
- Eligible Beneficiaries who are living in plain areas will get Rs. 1,20,000/- for construction of house on their own land.
- Whereas, beneficiaries who are currently resides in hilly areas will get financial assistance of Rs. 1,30,000/- for house construction under Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana.
- This scheme is specifically started for those people who belongs to OBC Category, other category people are not eligible to apply for housing assistance under this scheme.
- People owning plot of land of having 269 Square Feet of area are eligible to get financial assistance under Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana.
- Below mentioned category people if applied for financial assistance for house construction under Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana then priority will be given to them :-
- Family Heads.
- Abandoned Women.
- Widows Women.
- Flood Affected Area Victim.
- Victims of Communal Riots.
- Victims of Natural Calamities.
- Physical Handicapped Persons.
- If the beneficiary family annual income is more than Rs. 1,20,000/- per year then they are not eligible to avail the benefit of financial assistance for house construction under Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana.
- Eligible Beneficiaries are also eligible to get financial assistance of Rs. 12,000/- for construction of Toilet under Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.
- Government of Maharashtra will provide financial assistance for 3 Lakh House Construction in the year 2023-2024, for 3 Lakh House Construction in the year 2024-2025 and for 4 Lakh House Construction in the year 2025-2026 by investing a total of Rs. 12,000/- crore.
- In order to get financial assistance for cthe onstruction of house under Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana, beneficiary will have to fill the offline application form.
- Application Form can be collected from Gram Sabha or Gram Panchayat Office.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Government of Maharashtra will provide the below-mentioned benefits to all eligible homeless people of the State under its Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana :-
- One Time Financial Assistance for the Construction of House will be Provided.
- Resident of Plain Areas will get Rs. 1,20,000/- Assistance for the Construction of House.
- Whereas, Resident of Hilly Areas will get Rs. 1,30,000/- for the Construction of House.
- Financial Assistance for House Construction will be provided to those who owns a Plot of Land.
- Assistance will be provided in Equal Installments.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Financial Assistance for house construction under Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana of Government of Maharashtra will only provided to those eligible beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility criteria set by government :-
- Only Permanent Resident or Resident of Maharashtra for 15 Years are Eligible to Apply.
- Applicant should be belong to Other Backward Class. (OBC)
- Beneficiary Applicant’s Family Annual Income should not be more than Rs. 1,20,000/- per year.
- Beneficiary Applicant should have atleast 269 Square Feet Land Area for House Construction.
- Beneficiary Applicant should not have own a house in any State of India.
- Beneficiary of Other Schemes of Central or State Government are not Eligible to Apply.
Documents Required to be Attached
- Beneficiary Applicant will have to attach the below mentioned documents as per requirement at the time of applying for financial assistance for construction of house under Maharashtra Government’s Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana :-
- Documents of Property Transcript from Gram Panchayat for duly signed Certificate.
- Aadhar Card of Beneficiary.
- Certificate of Income.
- Certificate of Caste.
- Voter Identity Card.
- 1 Passport Size Photograph.
- Family Ration Card.
- Bank Account Number and IFSC Code.
- Mobile Number.
- Job Card of MNREGA.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply and Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Beneficiary can apply for financial assistance for construction of house under Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana through Application Form.
- Application Form of Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana of Maharashtra Government can be collected from the below mentioned offices :-
- District Office of Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department.
- Gram Panchayat Office.
- Gram Sabha Office.
- Beneficiary belongs to Other Backwad Class (OBC) are only eligible to apply for this house construction financial assistance.
- Collect the Application Form from Office and Fill it correctly without making any mistake.
- Attach all the required documents with the Application Form.
- Now, Submit Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana Application Form along with all the documents in the same office from where the application form was collected.
- Submitted Application Form will be verified by Sarpanch or Gram Sevak initially.
- Physical Verification of land on which house is constructed will be done by concerned officials.
- Documents will also checked by officials during physical inspection of land.
- List will be made then of those beneficiaries who found eligible to get financial assistance to construct house under Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana.
- The beneficiaries List will then be forwarded to the department for further approval.
- After approval, beneficiaries will get financial assistance for construction of house in equal installment in their bank account.
- Application Status of Modi Aawas Gharkul Yojana can be checked by visiting the Sarpanch or Gram Sevak Office.
