Introduction of NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana: A Brief Insight
- National Legal Services Authority launched Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana on 16th of July 2025.
- The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide a responsive legal platform through the National Legal Services Authority for defence personnel and their dependents for the early resolution of their legal problems.
- Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana is designed in such a way that legal assistance is not denied due to distance, deployment or duty-bound limitations of the defence personnel and their family members.
- Serving Defence Personnel, Ex-Servicemen, Widows of Defence Personnel, and the Dependents of Defence Personnel will now get free legal help under NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana.
- Personnel and their dependents of the Para Military/ Central Armed Defence Forces (CAPF) are also eligible to get legal help under the Veer Parivar Sahayata Scheme.
- The scope of Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana is also includes setting up a legal clinic in every Rural, Urban, Border Areas, and High Altitude Areas where there is a functional Sainik Board.
- Under NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, a dedicated legal services clinic will be opened in collaboration with Kendriya Sainik Board.
- At those Legal Services Clinics, free legal assistance/ help will be provided to defence personnel and their dependents.
- Beneficiary Applicants can take legal help in matters such as property disputes, welfare schemes, matrimonial disputes, civil disputes and other legal matters.
- At present, there are 34 Rajya Sainik Boards and 410 Zila Sainik Boards operating across the country through which the benefits of Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana will be provided to eligible beneficiaries.
- Legal Services will be provided through experienced empanelled lawyers/ advocates.
- Visit your nearest Rajya Sainik Board/ District Sainik Board to file an application for seeking legal assistance free of cost under NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana.
- Online Application can also be filed under this scheme through the Legal Services Management System Portal of the National Legal Services Authority.
- Further, NALSA has a Mobile App available both in the Play Store and the Apple IOS Store through which also beneficiary applicant can file an application for legal assistance under the Veer Parivar Sahayata Scheme.

- Further Government is also planning to launch Yudh Samman Yojana, which is just a proposal right now, in which one-time financial assistance will be provided to those defence personnel who fought the 1965 and 1971 wars with Porkistan.
Objectives of NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana
- Legal Services Clinic will be established in every Kendriya, Rajya and Zila Sainik Board.
- Free and Competent Legal Services and Legal Assistance will be provided to defence personnel and their families.
- Awareness among service defence personnel, ex-servicemen, and their dependents will also raise about the functioning of these legal clinics.

- Through National Legal Services Authority’s Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, the following benefits will be provided to all serving and retired defence personnel and their dependents :-

Legal Matters Eligible for Assistance
- The beneficiary can approach the legal services clinic or any legal services authority under NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana to avail the facility of free legal assistance in any of the following legal matters :-
- Property Related Disputes. (Ancestral or Self-acquired Properties)
- Family Disputes like :-
- Matrimonial Issues
- Maintenance
- Custody of Children
- Consumer Matters.
- Protection against Financial Frauds.
- Succession and Inheritance Related Matters.
- Assistance in availing the welfare schemes of the Central and State Governments.
- Legal representation in Criminal or Civil Matters that affect the family.
- Assistance in availing Disability Certificate.
- Any other benefits under the Rights of Persons and Disabilities Act 2016. (RPWD Act).
- Legal Assistance for any other applicable law.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Free Legal Assistance under NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of the scheme :-
- Benefits of the Scheme is only available for the following persons :-
- Serving Defence Personnel.
- Ex-Servicemen/ Retired Defence Personnel.
- Widows of Defence Personnel.
- Wife, Children and other dependents, family members of Defence Personnel.
- The following persons are also eligible :-
- Serving Personnel of Paramilitary.
- Retired Personnel of Paramilitary.
- Widows, Wife, Children, and other dependent family members of Paramilitary Personnel.
- Benefits of the Scheme is only available for the following persons :-
Documents Required to be Attached
- Applicant Defence Personnel or their Dependents will have to submit the following documents at the time of applying for legal assistance under NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana :-
- Recent Photograph.
- Aadhaar Card.
- Ration Card.
- Voter Identity Card.
- Caste Certificate.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- The beneficiary can submit the request for legal assistance under Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana in writing through the following ways :-
- Online through the NALSA Legal Services Management System.
- Offline through Sainik Boards. (Soldier Boards)
Online Application under Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana
- National Legal Services Authority has a dedicated portal named “Legal Services Management System” through which defence personnel or their dependents can apply for free legal assistance under Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana.
- Visit the NALSA Legal Services Management System Portal and click on Defence Personnel.
- Choose Eligibility Criteria such as Defence Personnel (Serving), Defence Personnel (Retired), and Defence Personnel (Dependent) and fill Legal Aid/ Grievance Application.
- Thereafter, fill in the Nature of Legal Aid/ Grievance and Summary of Problem for which Legal Aid/ Grievance is sought.
- Now, fill in the personal details such as Name, Father Name, Mobile Number, address etc as shown below in the image :-
- Fill Legal Aid/ Grievance Details.
- Fill in the Case Details if any.
- Beneficiary Applicant will have to attach/ upload the documents as per the availability.
- After filling in all the details in the Application Form of Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, click on the submit button to submit.
- Submitted Application Forms will be forwarded to the concerned Legal Services Clinic for resolution.
- Applicant can also Track the Status of Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana through Diary Number or Registration Number.
Offline Application under Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana
- Defence Personnel or their dependents can submit their legal assistance application at any established legal services clinic.
- Legal Services Clinic under Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana is functioning at Zila Sainik Board (District Soldier Board) or Rajya Sainik Board. (State Soldier Board)
- The legal clinic will register the application of the beneficiary and take necessary action.
- DLSA actions include Legal Counselling, Drafting of Documents, Assigning or Panel Lawyer for Representation and any other legal assistance as per law.
- The legal issue of the beneficiary will be handled with utmost priority.
Constitution of Legal Services Clinic under this Scheme
- Secretary of the State or District Legal Services Authority as per the requirement, will establish a legal services clinic in consultation with the Rajya or Zila Sainik Board in charge.
- Legal Services Clinic under NALSA Veer Sahayata Yojana can be established at Zila/ District Sainik Board premises, which cover the entire district or at Rajya/ State Sainik Board, which covers the entire State.
- A Nodal Officer will be nominated by the Rajya/ Zila Sainik Board in the Legal Services Clinic for its smooth functioning.
- A panel of Legal Aid Lawyers, preferably ex-servicemen, will be nominated,d which can work in collaboration with the Nodal Officer.
- Empanel Legal Aid Lawyers will be provide their services at Legal Services Clinic and they must maintain the following records :-
- Legal Aid Application Register.
- Referral Register.
- Daily Visitor Log.
- Awareness Activity Log.
- Feedback and Grievance Register.
- Defence Personnel and their dependents can reach out to the legal services clinic and avail the benefits of free legal assistance under NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana.
