Introduction of Odisha Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana: A Brief Insight

• Odisha Government launched CM Kisan Yojana in the state on 08-09-2024 for farmers and landless agricultural households.
• CM Kisan Yojana was launched with the objective of providing additional financial support to the beneficiaries of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
• CM Kisan Yojana has 3 components from which the 3rd component is a scholarship scheme for the children of the scheme beneficiaries.
• The name of the scholarship scheme is “Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana”.
• It was launched on 27-09-2024.
• The main objective of the Odisha Government behind launching this scheme is to improve the economic and social status of the children of farmers and landless agricultural households by providing them with scholarships for their education.
• Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment of the Odisha Government is the implementing department of this scholarship scheme.
• Yearly Scholarship will be provided to children of beneficiaries of CM Kisan Yojana who are currently studying in any professional or technical course in any government, private or premier educational institution.
• Scholarship will not be provided to those students who are studying in private institutions that are situated outside Odisha.
• Students selected for scholarship under the Krishi Vidya Nidhi Scheme will get tuition fees, annual fees, and hostel charges directly in their bank account.
• No refundable charges or caution/ security money are covered under this scheme for payment.
• Students studying in private educational institutions will only get the scholarship amount which are fixed by the government for that particular course. You can check the Scholarship Amount for Private Educational Institutions Here.
• It is hereby reiterated that only the children of CM Kisan Yojana beneficiaries i.e. the children of small and marginal farmers and children of landless agricultural households, are eligible to get a scholarship under Krushi Bidya Nidhi Yojana of the Government of Odisha.
• Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana Online Application Form is available on the Scholarship Portal of Odisha.
• The portal will only open two times in a year for online application, 1st time in July/ August and 2nd time in November/ December. (For renewal also)
• Beneficiary Students can contact their Chief District Agriculture Officer (CDAO) in case any help or assistance is required regarding the Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana of the Odisha Government.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Government of Odisha will provide the following benefits to all eligible children of CM Kisan Yojana beneficiaries under its Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana :-
  

  Admission in Government College/ Institution

  The government will release the full amount of the below-mentioned money paid by the student :- Tuition Fees Annual Fees One-Time Fees Hostel Charges Any Other Non-Refundable Fees Students of Ph.D. course will receive the actual fee of the course. The government will not pay any caution money or any refundable money.

  Admission in Private Colleges/ Institutions

  As per the Course Fees Structure decided by the Government. Check the Scholarship Amount of Courses for Private Colleges Here.

  Admission in Government Premier Institutions

  As per the actual fees of the course or a maximum of Rs. 1 Lakh. (whichever is less)

  Other Benefits

  Rs. 1,200/- per Month for Hostel and Mess Charges for 10 Months. (For UG, PG, Ph.D and Premier Govt. Institute Students) Rs. 1,000/- per Month for 10 Months to Diploma, Polytechnic, ITI Students.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Scholarship under Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana of the Odisha Government will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of the scheme :-
  • Permanent Resident Students of Odisha are Eligible to Apply.
  • Beneficiary Student should be a child of a CM Kisan Yojana Beneficiary.
  • Beneficiary Student should have taken Admission in any Government or Private Educational Institution in a Professional or Technical Course.
  • Students studyingthe  Self Finance Course are also eligible to apply for a scholarship.
  • Students should not be a beneficiary of any other scholarship scheme.

Documents Required to be Attached

• Students will have to upload the following documents at the time of applying for the scholarship under the Odisha Government’s Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana :-
  • Students’ Aadhaar Card.
  • Odisha Residence Certificate.
  • Recent Color Passport Size Photo of Student.
  • Caste Certificate. (If Applicable)
  • Family Ration Card.
  • Parent/ Guardian ID.
  • Class 10th Marksheet and Certificate of Student.
  • Last Exam Passed Marksheet.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Children of the beneficiaries of the CM Kisan Scheme who are currently studying in any professional or technical course can apply for a scholarship online under the Odisha Government’s Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana.
• Odisha Government has an Official Scholarship Portal through which eligible and beneficiary students can apply for a scholarship online.
• Visit the Scholarship Portal, scroll down a little bit and Select Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana.
  
• The portal is not open every time to apply for a scholarship. Every year government will open the portal for students in the months of July and August and November and December to apply under Krushi Vidya Nidhi Yojana.
• Aadhaar Card Number is needed for registration on the portal, which will be verified through OTP.
  
• Fill in the Name, Gender, Date of Birth and choose your own password in the registration form.
• Log in again on the portal after registration with the help of the Unique Number/ Aadhaar Number and the chosen Password.
  
• Select Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana and fill the Online Application Form.
• Beneficiary Student will have to upload all the documents in PDF format on the portal.
• Preview the application form and click on the submit button.
• Print the submitted Online Application of Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana and save it for future reference.
• Principal/ Head of the educational institution will verify and check the details of the submitted applications and documents and give their authentication to sanction the scholarship amount after thorough verification.
• After verification, the Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana Application will be forwarded by the Principal/ Head of the Institution to the Chief District Agriculture Officer. (CDAO)
• Chief District Agriculture Officer (CDAO) of the respective district will verify the status of the parents of the student, whether they are the beneficiaries of the CM Kisan Yojana or not.
• CDAO will also verify the scholarship amount of the course with the approved cost structure of the scheme.
• Verified applications of the Krishi Vidya Nidhi Scheme will then be forwarded to the Director of Agriculture & Food Production for disbursement of the scholarship amount.
• Scholarship Amount of Krushi Vidya Nidhi Yojana will then be transferred in the aadhaar-linked bank account of beneficiary students.
• Application Status of Krishi Vidya Nidhi Yojana can be checked through the Application Number or the Aadhaar Number.
