Introduction of Odisha Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana: A Brief Insight
- Odisha Government is going to launch the marriage assistance scheme in the state named “Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana”.
- The main objective of the government behind starting this marriage assistance scheme in Odisha is to prevent child marriages, to eliminate dowry practices, to promote widow remarriage and to provide dignified marriage ceremonies for economically disadvantaged families.
- Department of Women and Child Development of the Government of Odisha is the implementing department of this scheme.
- The government will spent Rs. 51,000/- per couple on the marriage ceremony organised under Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana.
- Out of Rs. 51,000/-, the Cash Assistance of Rs. 35,000/- will be transferred to the bank account of beneficiaries within 7 days after the successful registration of marriage.
- Rs. 10,000/- will be spent on Traditional Saree, Bangles, Anklets, Toe Rings etc.
- And, the remaining Rs. 6,000/- will be spent on decoration, refreshment, seating arrangements, logistics and successful organisation of the marriage ceremony.
- Odisha Government will implement Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana in the state for 5 years from 2025-2026 to 2029-2030.

- The Women and Child Development Department issued a tender to select the implementing agency for the implementation of this scheme.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Odisha Government under its Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana will provide the following assistance to eligible couples :-
- The government will spent Rs. 51,000/- per couple on the marriage.
- The Amount of Rs. 51,000/- will be distributed as follows :-
- Rs. 35,000/- cash assistance directly in the bank account of the beneficiary.
- Rs. 10,000/- will be spent on Gifts and Household Articles.
- Rs. 6,000/- will be payable to the Implementing Agency of the Scheme for Management and Logistics.
- Marriage will be conducted in a Community/ Mass Ceremony.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Cash Assistance of Rs. 35,000/- along with additional assistance of Rs. 16,000/- will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the below mentioned eligibility criteria of the Odisha Government’s Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana :-
- Bride and Groom should be Permanent residents of Odisha.
- The Age of the Bride should be between 18 to 35 years.
- The Age of the Groom should be between 21 to 35 years.
- Widow Remarriage is also Eligible for Financial Assistance.
- Girl Beneficiary should belong to a Low low-income Family.
- Benefits of Marriage Assistance will be provided to one girl per family.
- Family should not be a beneficiary of any other Central or State Government Marriage Assistance Scheme.
- Priority under Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana will be provided to :-
- Widows seeking Remarriage.
- Physically Challenged Applicants.
- Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and PVTGs Community.
- Low Income Households.
Documents Required to be Attached
- Beneficiary Applicants will have to attach the following documents with the Application Form of Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana of the Odisha Government :-
- Aadhaar Card of the Bride.
- Aadhaar Card of the Groom.
- Family Income Certificate.
- Mobile Number.
- Affidavit.
- Passport Size Photo.
- Bank Account Details.
- Certificate of Disability. (If Applicable)
- Certificate of Caste. (If Applicable)
- Husband Death Certificate. (For Widow)
- Class 10th Marksheet or Any other Age Proof.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Odisha Government with the help of the selected implementing agency will organize a community outreach programme in which an awareness campaign regarding Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana will be organised.
- During that period, the officials of the implementing agency will identify the potential beneficiaries as per the eligibility criteria of the scheme.
- After the identification, the documents such as Aadhaar Card, Age Proof, Bank Passbook etc. will be collected by the officials from the Eligible Applicant.
- Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana Application Form will be filled by the AWW (Anganwadi Workers) on behalf of the Applicant.
- Initial verification of the submitted application form and documents will be done by the Officials of the Implementing Agency.
- The list of selected beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Kanya Vibaha Yojana will then be forwarded to the District Social Welfare Officer for further verification.
- DSWO will verify the received application form and documents and forward it to the District Level Committee chaired by the Collector for final approval.
- Couples finally selected for the benefit of Odisha Government’s Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana will be informed formally on their registered mobile number.
- The Implementing Agency will then schedule the group marriage date and plan the logistics with the help of Registrar DSWO and CDPO.
- Registrar will present at the venue on the day of the marriage of the couple and verify each couple individually.
- It is mandatory to submit the marriage certificate copies to the Child Development Program Officer (CDPO) and the District Social Welfare Officer. (DSWO).
- Cash Assistance of Rs. 35,000/- will be directly transferred to the bank account of beneficiaries as promised by the Government of Odisha under its Chief Minister’s Daughter Marriage Assistance Scheme.
