Introduction of Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar: A Brief Insight

In the year 1996, the Central Government started the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement.
Then, in the year 2018 government renamed it to Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar.
This is implemented by the Central Government’s Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The main objective of the government behind starting these awards is to celebrate the energy, ability, zeal, determination, and enthusiasm of children.
Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar will honor those children who have done exceptionally well in any of the 6 below-mentioned field :-
- Art and Culture.
- Environment.
- Bravery.
- Science and Technology.
- Social Service.
- Sports.
Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar will be given for excellence and exceptional contribution, not just for routine lifetime contributions.
Any child whose age is between 5 years to 18 years and who contributed any act, incident, or achievement in the abovementioned fields for the betterment of society is eligible to get Rashtriya Bal Puraskar under Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar of the Central Government.
Every year Ministry of Women and Child Development selects 25 or as the case may be for Rashtriya Bal Puraskar.
Each recipient will get a Medal and a Certificate or Citation from the President of India which is distributed at New Delhi on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas on 26th of December.
Central Government will also provide round trip air ticket to the awardee or reimburse the travelling expenses from the recipient’s home city to New Delhi.
Each Awardee is eligible to take parents/guardians (maximum two in number) with them at the time of receiving the award.
Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Nomination Date starts from 01-04-2025 and the last date of nomination is 31-07-2025.
This time period of 1st April and 31st July is for every year and the portal will be opened every year for nomination.
