Introduction of Punjab Meri Rasoi Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • On 23 February 2026, the Chief Minister of Punjab launched the Meri Rasoi Scheme to help poor and needy families get essential food items without any extra burden.
  • The government started this scheme to make sure families do not struggle to arrange basic kitchen supplies.
  • The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs runs this scheme, and Markfed manages the distribution process under the department’s supervision.
  • Under the Meri Rasoi Scheme, the government will provide Nutritional Food Kits to eligible families once every three months.
  • Each food kit contains five important items that families use daily.
  • Every food kit includes 2 Kg of Pulses, 2 Kg of Sugar, 1 Litre of Pure Mustard Oil, 1 Kg of Iodized Salt, and 200 Grams of Turmeric Powder.
  • Through the Meri Rasoi Scheme, around 40 lakh families will receive direct support.
  • Only families who hold a Blue Ration Card can receive these free of cost nutritional food kits under this scheme.
  • The family must also be registered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

  • Further, all families of Punjab State is now covered under “Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana”, in which health insurance cover up to Rs. 10 Lakh per year is provided by the Punjab Government.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • Punjab Government through its Meri Rasoi Scheme will provide the following benefits to all eligible families who possess a Blue Ration Card :-
    • Nutritional Food Kits will be distributed among beneficiary families.
    • Beneficiary Families will receive these food kits once every 3 months.
    • Each Food Kit contains 5 food items.
    • Food Kits provided under Meri Rasoi Scheme will contain :-
      • 2 Kg of Pulses.
      • 2 Kg of Sugar.
      • 1 Litre of Pure Mustard Oil.
      • 1 Kg of Iodised Salt.
      • 200 Grams of Turmeric Powder.
    • Around 40 Lakh Families will receive these food kits.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • Nutritional Food Kit of 5 essential items will be provided to those families who fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Meri Rasoi Scheme :-
    • Permanent Resident Families of Punjab is Eligible to Apply.
    • The beneficiary’s family should have a Blue Ration Card.
    • Beneficiary Families should be registered under the National Food Security Act. (NFSA)

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • On 23 February 2026, the Chief Minister of Punjab officially launched the Meri Rasoi Scheme in the State.
  • Under this scheme, beneficiary families do not need to register or submit any application to receive the food kit.
  • The government will distribute these food kits through PDS Shops (Ration Shops), just like regular ration supplies.
  • Authorities will provide the kits under the Meri Rasoi Scheme once every three months.
  • Every blue ration card holder family must visit their nearest ration shop to collect the food kit.
  • However, you must ensure that your ration card is properly linked (mapped) with your Aadhaar card.
