Introduction of Punjab Mukh Mantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • Punjab Government started the Mukh Mantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme (MMPCRK) in the year 2011.
  • The main objective behind starting this scheme is to provide financial support to those cancer patients who are not financially sound.
  • Department of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of Punjab is the implementing department of this scheme.
  • Government through its Mukh Mantri Punjab Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme, will now provide monetary assistance to cancer patients so that they can get the treatment of this disease fairly.
  • Each Cancer Patient will receive Rs. 1,50,000/- directly in their bank account for the treatment of cancer in empanelled hospitals.
  • Permanent Resident Cancer Patients of Punjab is eligible to apply for financial assistance under the Punjab Government’s CM Cancer Rahat Kosh Scheme.
  • ESI Employees, Government Employees, and their dependents and those patients who are already covered for medical reimbursement facility or those persons who have already opted for health insurance by any Insurance Company is not eligible to apply for financial assistance under the Mukhyamantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Yojana of the Government of Punjab.
  • The government has also launched the Official Portal of this Scheme in which all the information related to the scheme is available.
  • The beneficiary cancer patient can apply for financial assistance for cancer treatment by visiting any empanelled hospital.
  • Further, the Punjab Government is also offering free health care facilities up to Rs. 10 lakh under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • The following assistance will be provided by the Punjab Government to all eligible cancer patients under its Mukh Mantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme :-
    • Financial Assistance for Treatment of Cancer will be provided to Eligible Beneficiaries.
    • Cancer Patients will receive Rs. 1,50,000/- Assistance for their treatment.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,50,000/- for the treatment of cancer will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the following eligibility criteria of Mukh Mantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme of the Punjab Government :-
    • A permanent resident of Punjab is Eligible to apply.
    • The applicant should be a Cancer Patient.
    • Government Employees, ESI Employees and their Dependents are not eligible to apply.

  • The documents that are required at the time of applying for financial assistance under the Punjab Government’s Mukh Mantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme are mentioned below :-
    • 2 Passport-size colour photo attested by the Doctor.
    • Any One Residence Proof of Punjab :-
      • Birth Certificate.
      • Residence Certificate of Parents.
      • Armed License.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • Cancer Patients who need financial assistance for their treatment under the Mukh Mantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme can apply directly through the empanelled hospitals.
  • Currently, 10 Government Hospitals and 11 Private Hospitals are empanelled by the Punjab Government under Mukh Mantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme.
  • Visit any empanelled government or private hospital and fill out the Mukh Mantri Punjab Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme Application Form.
  • Attach all the required documents with the application form and submit it to the Hospital Administration.
  • The Civil Surgeon or Medical Superintendent will primarily verify the received application form and documents and enter the details online on the Mukh Mantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme Website.
  • An acknowledgement receipt will be issued by the administration to the patient for future reference.
  • The Official of the Department of Health and Family Welfare will verify the details of the cancer patient and approve the financial assistance at the earliest.
  • The financial assistance of Rs. 1,50,000/- under Mukh Mantri Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme will then be transferred directly into the bank account of the cancer patient.
