Introduction of Rajasthan Free Laptop Distribution Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Government of Rajasthan launched the major educational welfare scheme named “Free Laptop Distribution Scheme” in the year 2013.
- The main objective of the government behind starting this scheme is to provide educational support to students and encourage them to use technology in their education.
- Rajasthan Government’s Department of Secondary Education is the implementing department of this scheme.
- Free-of-cost laptops for educational purposes will be provided to eligible and selected students under the Nishulk Laptop Vitran Yojana of the Rajasthan Government.
- Laptops will be provided to meritorious students of government schools who perform better in their board examination results.
- Students who passed their Class 8th, Class 10th, and Class 12 examinations with 70% or more marks for the District Level and 75% or more marks are eligible to get free laptops under the Government of Rajasthan’s Free Laptop Distribution Scheme.
- Laptops will be distributed separately among district meritorious students and state meritorious students.
- The government’s aim is to distribute more than 27,000 laptops on a yearly basis.
- If the annual family income of any student is more than Rs. 1 lakh per year, then they are not eligible to get free laptops under the Free Laptop Yojana of Rajasthan.
- The government will organize a district-level ceremony in which laptops will be distributed to selected students.
- District or State Education Officer will help the students in case they need any help or assistance regarding the Laptop Yojana of the Rajasthan Government.
- Girls Students can also explore other major welfare schemes for students, which are “Balika Protsahan Puraskar Yojana”, “Gargi Puraskar Yojana”, “Indira Priyadarshini Puraskar Yojana” and “Kalpana Chawla Scooty Vitran Yojana”.
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Rajasthan Government will provide the following benefits to all eligible meritorious students of government schools under its Free Laptop Distribution Scheme :-
- Free-of-cost laptops will be provided.
- Laptops will be distributed among selected students as per the State and District Merit List separately.
- Distribution of Laptops is completely free of cost, Students will not have to pay any charges.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Free of Cost Laptops will be provided to only those students who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of the Rajasthan Government’s Free Laptop Distribution Scheme :-
- Permanent Resident Students of Government Schools of Rajasthan are Eligible.
- Beneficiary Student should have the following minimum passing marks :-
- For District Merit List :- 70% Marks or More.
- For State Merit List :- 75% Marks or More.
- Students passed their Class 8th, Class 10th and Class 12th with above mentioned marks will get Free Laptops
- The Annual Family Income of a Student should not be more than Rs. 1 Lakh per year.

- The following documents will have to be submitted by eligible students in their school to get free laptops under the Rajasthan Government’s Free Laptop Distribution Scheme :-
- Marksheets of the Respective Class.
- Jan Aadhaar Card.
- Aadhaar Card.
- Recent Photo.
- Mobile Number and Email.
- School Identity Card.
- Family Income Certificate.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Eligible Students do not need to apply separately for the Free Laptop Distribution Scheme of the Rajasthan Government.
- Department of Secondary Education will prepare a list of eligible students of each class as per the result declared by the board.
- District Education Officer and the State Education Officer will verify the list of selected students and forward it to the Department for the distribution of laptops.
- Distribution of Laptops to selected students under the Government of Rajasthan’s Free Laptop Distribution Scheme will be provided in a District Level Ceremony.
