Introduction of Rajasthan Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana: A Brief Insight
- The BJP-led Rajasthan Government originally introduced Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana (पद्माक्षी पुरस्कार योजना).
- This scheme was designed to promote girls’ education and encourage them to pursue higher education.
- In 2019, when the Congress-led Government came to power in Rajasthan, the scheme was renamed to “Indira Priyadarshini Puraskar Yojana”.
- In 2024, following the return of the BJP-led Government, the name of the scheme was again changed back to its original title, “Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana”.
- Rajasthan Government’s Education Department is the implementing department of this scheme.
- Government will now facilitate the girl students who topped their district and the state by providing them with financial incentives.
- Earlier, under Indira Priyadarshini Puraskar Yojana, the Class 8th topper girl student used to receive Rs. 40,000/-, the Class 9th topper received Rs. 75,000/- and the Class 12th topper was awarded Rs. 1,00,000/- along with a scooter.
- However, from the year 2025, the BJP-led Rajasthan Government reduced the benefits of the Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana.
- Now, underthe revamped Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana, the following financial award will be provided by the Rajasthan Government to the topper girl students :-
Class Financial Award Class 8th - Rs. 25,000/-
Class 9th - Rs. 50,000/-
Class 12th - Rs. 75,000/-
- As we see, the government reduced the financial assistance, and from now onwards, no scooter will be provided to Class 12th topper girls.
- Girl Students who passed the board examination of Class 8th, Class 9th and Class 12th and topped their respective districts are eligible to receive a financial award under the Padmakshi Award Scheme of the Rajasthan Government.
- Topper girl students from each stream i.e. Arts, Commerce, Science, and Sanskrit, will be selected separately for financial incentive under this scheme.
- A girl student must enroll in the next class to be eligible for availing the financial award under the Government of Rajasthan’s Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana.
- Benefits under the Padmakshi Award Scheme will only apply to those girl students who belong to 8 social categories which are SC, ST, OBC, SBC, Minorities, General, PH, and BPL.
- Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana Application Form will be submitted through the District Education Officer. (DEO)
- Rajasthan Government will distribute the awards under the Padmakshi Puraskar Scheme every year on the occasion of Basant Panchmi.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Rajasthan Government, under its Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana will provide the following benefits to all Meritorious and Topper Girl Students of Class 8th, Class 9th and Class 12th :-
- Class 8th Topper Girl Student will get Rs. 25,000/-.
- Class 9th Topper Girl Student will get Rs. 50,000/-.
- Class 12th Topper Girl Student will get Rs. 75,000/-.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Financial Award from Rs. 25,000/- to Rs. 75,000/- will be provided to only those beneficiaries who meet the following eligibility criteria of Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana of the Rajasthan Government :-
- Girl Students should be permanent residents of Rajasthan.
- Girl Student should have topped her District in any one of the following board exams conducted by the Rajasthan Secondary Education Board :-
- Class 8th.
- Class 10th.
- Class 12th.
- Girl Student should have topped the State in Class 8th Board Exam conducted by the Sanskrit Education Department.
- Topper Girl Students of Swami Vivekanand State Model School are also Eligible.
- Meritorious Girl Student should have taken admission in the following class :-
- Class 9th. (For Class 8th Topper)
- Class 11th. (For Class 10th Topper)
- Graduation 1st Year. (For Class 12th Topper)
- Topper Girl Student belonging to any one of the categories are eligible :-
- General.
- Scheduled Caste. (SC)
- Scheduled Tribe. (ST)
- Minorities.
- Other Backward Class.
- Socially Backward Class.
- Physically Handicapped.
- Below Poverty Line. (BPL)
- Financial Incentive awarded under Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana will be provided separately to Arts, Commerce, Science and Sanskrit Stream.
Documents Required to be Attached
- If asked by the District Education Officer, the girl student will have to submit the following documents to avail the benefit of financial incentive under Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana of the Government of Rajasthan :-
- Rajasthan Residence Proof.
- Aadhaar Card of a Girl Student.
- Identity Proof of Parent/ Guardian.
- Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
- Caste Certificate as per her social category.
- Current Admission Proof in School or College.
- Recent Color Passport Size Photograph.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Beneficiary Girls Students do not have any need to apply separately for Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana of the Rajasthan Government.
- District Education Officers of the respective district will prepare a list of eligible and topper girl students after the announcement of results.
- Prepared List of Selected Girl Students will be forwarded to the Director of the Secondary Education Department before the 15th of August every year.
- After thorough verification, the list of girl students selected for financial incentive under the Rajasthan Government’s Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana will be forwarded by the Director of the Secondary Education Department to the Secretary of Balika Shiksha Foundation.
- On the occasion of Basant Panchmi every year, the financial award under Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana will be distributed among selected girl students.
