Introduction of Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme is one of the major welfare schemes of the Government of Telangana.
  • Aasara Pension Scheme was launched on 1st of October 2014.
  • Department of Rural Development of Telangana Government is the nodal department of the Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme.
  • The scheme is run, implemented and operated by Telangana’s Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty.
  • The main objective behind launching the Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme is to provide social security in the form of financial assistance to deprived people of Telangana.
  • Financial Assistance under the Aasara Pension Scheme is provided in the form of a monthly pension.
  • The amount of the monthly pension will vary from person to person according to the category.

  • There is also an annual income criterion in the Aasara Pension Scheme in which a pensioner’s annual income should not be more than :-
    • Rs. 1,50,000/- in Rural Area.
    • Rs. 2,00,000/- in Urban Area.
  • Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for the Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme through an Offline Application Form available at Mandal Office of their area.

    • Should be a HIV-AIDS Positive Person.
    Disabled
    • Residents of Telangana.

    Beedi Workers
    • Residents of Telangana.
    • Age should be below 50 Years.
    • Must be a registered Beedi Worker.
    Single Women

Ineligibility Conditions of Aasara Pension Scheme

  • The following Ineligibility Criteria is set by the Telangana Government according to the applicant/ pensioner category. Anyone falling in any of the following mentioned category are not eligible to apply for pension :-
    • Applicant holding any of below mentioned land :-
      • 3 Acres of Wet, Irrigated or Dry Land.
      • 7.5 Acres of Dry Land.
    • If any of the Applicant’s Children are in the Service of :-
      • Central or State Government.
      • Public Sector Undertaking.
      • Private Services.
      • Outsourced Employee.
      • Contractual Services.
    • If any of the Applicant’s Children are :-
      • Professionals like Doctor, Engineer etc.
      • Contractor.
      • In any type of self-employment.
    • If Applicant has any of his own business :-
      • Petrol Pumps.
      • Rig.
      • Oil Mill.
      • Shop.
      • Rice Mill.
      • Or Any Large Business.
    • If the Applicant has a Four Wheeler or a Big Commercial Vehicle.
    • If the Applicant is the recipient of a pension from any other source.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • The only way to apply for Aasara Pension Scheme is through Application Form.
  • Eligible Beneficiaries can collect Application Form of Pension Scheme free of cost from any of the following offices :-
    • Office of Gram Panchayat.
    • Office of Village Revenue Officer.
    • Meeseva Centers.
    • Office of Municipal Corporation.
    • Mandal Office.
  • Fill the application form properly and attach all the required documents.
  • Submit the Aasara Pension Scheme Application Form along with all the documents in the same office.
  • Application Form and Documents are subject to verification by Aasara Pension Officers.
  • Once the verification is done, the information will be sent on applicant’s given mobile number.
  • From 1st to 7th of every month, the monthly amount of pension under the Aasara Pension Scheme will be transferred in the bank account of the beneficiary.

Key Features of the Scheme

  • Applicants living in the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation or Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation can apply online for the Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme.
  • Aasara Pension Card will be given to beneficiaries after approval from the District Collector.
  • SADAREM Certificate, Widow Husband Aadhar Card and Death Certificate are mandatorily needed at the time of applying.
  • Registration in the Co-Operative Society of Toddy Tapper is must for the applicant applying under the category of Toddy Tapper.
  • If a person is hearing impaired, then the eligible disability percentage is 51% to make him eligible.
  • Aasara Pension will be provided on the basis of socio-economic criteria, hence if any person falls under any of the following categories, then he/she is also eligible to apply under the Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme :-
    • Vulnerable and Primitive Tribal Group.
    • Household Headed by Women.
    • Families having Disabled Person.
    • Landless Agriculture Laborer’s.
    • Artisan and Craftsman like :- Potters, Tanners, Blacksmith, Coolie, Daily Basis Earners etc.
