KCR Government started Aasara Pension Scheme to provide monthly pension to needy people of Telangana. After the change of Government, Aasara Pension Scheme is renamed to “Cheyutha Pension Scheme”. So now Aasara Pension Scheme is closed in Telangana and Cheyutha Pension Scheme is running.

Introduction of Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme
- Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme is one of the major welfare scheme of Government of Telangana.
- Aasara Pension Scheme was launched on 1st of October 2014.
- Department of Rural Development of Telangana Government is the nodal department of Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme.
- Scheme is run, implemented and operated by Telangana’s Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty.
- The main objective behind launching Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme is to provide social security in the form of financial assistance to deprived people of Telangana.
- Financial Assistance under Aasara Pension Scheme is provided in the form of monthly pension.
- The amount of monthly pension will be varied from person to person according to category.
- At present only Disabled Person has a monthly pension of Rs. 3,016/-, otherwise the monthly pension of other category pensioners is same i.e. Rs. 2,016/-.
- It is estimated that more than 46 Lakhs people will be benefitted from Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme.
- The following persons are eligible to apply for monthly pension under Aasara Pension Scheme :-
- Old Age People.
- Widowed Women.
- Single/ Unmarried Women.
- Physically Handicapped Person.
- Weavers.
- Toddy Tappers.
- HIV-AIDS Positive Person.
- Beedi Workers.
- Filaria Patients.
- The amount provided as a monthly pension will be used by pensioner for their daily expenses.
- There is also a annual income criteria in Aasara Pension Scheme in which pensioner’s annual income should not be more than :-
- Rs. 1,50,000/- in Rural Area.
- Rs. 2,00,000/- in Urban Area.
- Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme through Offline Application Form available at Mandal Office of their area.
Benefits Provided to Beneficiaries
- The following financial assistance in form of pension will be provided by the Government of Telangana under Aasara Pension Scheme to the eligible applicant/ pensioners according to their category :-

Eligibility Conditions Needed to be Completed
- The following Eligibility Criteria is set by the Government of Telangana according to the applicant/ pensioner category to avail the benefit of Aasara Pension Scheme are as follows :-
Category Eligibility Conditions Old Age - Residents of Telangana.
- Age should be above 57 Years.
Weavers - Residents of Telangana.
- Age should be above 50 Years.
- Must be a Weaver by Occupation.
Widows - Residents of Karnataka.
- Women should be a Widow.
- Age of Women should be above 18 Years.
Toddy Tappers - Residents of Telangana.
- Age should be above 50 Years.
- Should be a Registered Member of Co-Operative Society of Toddy Tappers.
HIV-AIDS Person - Residents of Telangana.
- Should be a HIV-AIDS Positive Person.
Disabled - Residents of Telangana.
- Should be Disabled Person.
- Disability Percentage should be minimum 40%.
Beedi Workers - Residents of Telangana.
- Age should be below 50 Years.
- Must be a registered Beedi Worker.
Single Women - Residents of Telangana.
- Age should be above 35 Years.
- Women should be Unmarried.
Filaria Patients - Residents of Telangana.
- Must be a Filaria Patient.
Ineligibility Conditions of Aasara Pension Scheme
- The following Ineligibility Criteria is set by the Telangana Government according to the applicant/ pensioner category. Anyone falling in any of the following mentioned category are not eligible to apply for pension :-
- Applicant holding any of below mentioned land :-
- 3 Acres of Wet, Irrigated or Dry Land.
- 7.5 Acres of Dry Land.
- If any of the Applicant’s Children are in the Service of :-
- Central or State Government.
- Public Sector Undertaking.
- Private Services.
- Outsourced Employee.
- Contractual Services.
- If any of the Applicant’s Children are :-
- Professional like Doctor, Engineer etc.
- Contractor.
- In any type of Self Employment.
- If Applicant has any of his own business :-
- Petrol Pumps.
- Rig.
- Oil Mill.
- Shop.
- Rice Mill.
- Or Any Large Business.
- If Applicant has Four Wheeler or Big Commercial Vehicles.
- If Applicant is the recipient of pension from any other source.

Aasara Pension Scheme Age Limit
- Telangana Government sets the Age Limit for every category under Aasara Pension Scheme. Applicant only eligible to apply if he/she falls under the below mentioned age limit :-
Pensioner Category Age Limit Old Age 57 Years or More. Weavers 50 Years or More. Widow 18 Years or More. Toddy Tappers 50 Years or More. HIV-AIDS Person There is No Age Limit. Disabled There is No Age Limit. Beedi Workers Less than 50 Years. Single Women 35 Years or More. Filaria Patients There is No Age Limit.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply for Pension
- The only way to apply for Aasara Pension Scheme is through Application Form.
- Eligible Beneficiaries can collect Application Form of Pension Scheme free of cost from any of the following offices :-
- Office of Gram Panchayat.
- Office of Village Revenue Officer.
- Meeseva Centers.
- Office of Municipal Corporation.
- Mandal Office.
- Fill the application form properly and attached all the required documents.
- Submit the Aasara Pension Scheme Application Form along with all the documents in the same office.
- Application Form and Documents are subject to verify by Aasara Pension Officers.
- Once the verification is done, the information will be sent on applicant’s given mobile number.
- From 1st to 7th of every month, the monthly amount of pension under Aasara Pension Scheme will be transferred in the bank account of beneficiary.
Key Features of Scheme
- Applicant living in the limit of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation or Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation can apply online for Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme.
- Aasara Pension Card will be given to beneficiaries after the approval from District Collector.
- SADAREM Certificate, Widow Husband Aadhar Card and Death Certificate are mandatorily needed at the time of applying.
- Registration in the Co-Operative Society of Toddy Tapper is must for the applicant applying under the category of Toddy Tapper.
- If a person is hearing impaired then the eligible disability percentage is 51% to make him eligible.
- Aasara Pension will be provided on the basis of socio economic criteria, hence if any person falling under any of the following category then he/she is also eligible to apply under Telangana Aasara Pension Scheme :-
- Vulnerable and Primitive Tribal Group.
- Household Headed by Women.
- Families having Disabled Person.
- Landless Agriculture Laborer’s.
- Artisan and Craftsman like :- Potters, Tanners, Blacksmith, Coolie, Daily Basis Earners etc.
