Introduction of Uttar Pradesh Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award: A Brief Insight
- Uttar Pradesh Government launched the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award (उत्तर प्रदेश लक्ष्मण और रानी लक्ष्मीबाई पुरस्कार) in the year 2022.
- The main objective behind starting this initiative is to facilitate the efforts of the sports persons of the state and encourage them to perform better.
- Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award is the combination of two categories, in which the first category is for male sports persons which is the Laxman Award and the other one is for female sports persons, which is the Rani Laxmi Bai Award.
- This scheme is being implemented by the Sports Department of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
- Uttar Pradesh Government will provide the cash prize of Rs. 3,11,000/-, a certificate of appreciation and a bronze statue trophy of Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai to meritorious sports persons.
- Sports Persons who participated in National or International Events and won gold, silver or bronze medals are eligible to receive the benefits of the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award Scheme of the UP Government.
- A total of 31 sports categories are eligible in which the beneficiary participated and won medal.
- It is mandatory for a sports person to be a member of the state senior team for a consecutive 3 years.
- Veteran Sports Persons whose age is 40 years or more are also eligible to apply for the Laxman/ Rani Laxmi Bai Award of UP Government.
- Earlier the amount of assistance underthe Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award is Rs. 50,000/- which was further increased by the Uttar Pradesh Government to Rs. 3,11,000/-.
- Both online and offline application modes are available through which eligible sports persons can register themselves under this award scheme.
- Online Application Form of Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award Scheme is available on the Khel Sathi Portal.
- And, Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award Scheme Offline Application Form can be collected free of cost from the Office of the District or Regional Sports Officer.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Uttar Pradesh Government under its Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award will provide the following benefits to all eligible and meritorious sports persons of the state who won medals in National and International Games :-
- Cash Prize of Rs. 3,11,000.
- Bronze Statue of Laxman to Male Sports Person and Rani Laxmi Bai Statue to Female Sports Person.
- Certificate of Appreciation.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Cash Incentive of Rs. 3,11,000/- with certificate of appreciation and a trophy will be provided by Uttar Pradesh Government to only those sports persons who fulfill the following eligibility criteria of Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award Scheme :-
- Applicant should be a Sports Person and a Permanent Resident of Uttar Pradesh.
- Sports Person should be a consecutive member of the State Senior Team for 3 years.
- Beneficiary Sports Person should have taken part in a National or International Sports Event and won a medal. (Gold/ Silver/ Bronze)
- Veteran Sports Persons are also Eligible to apply and the minimum age limit is 40 years.
- The award should be given only once.
Sports Events Eligible for Award
- Sports Persons who participated in any one of the following sports events and won a medal can apply for the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award of the Uttar Pradesh Government :-
- Olympic Games.
- World Championship/ World Cup. (Organized once in 4 years)
- Asian Games.
- Commonwealth Games.
- Asian Championship and Commonwealth Championship. (Organized once in every 4 years)
- South Asian Games.
- National Games.
- National Senior Championship.
Documents Required to be Attached
- The following documents will be required at the time of applying for the benefits of the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award :-
- 2 Recent Color Passport-Size Photo.
- Birth Certificate or Any Document Related to Age Proof.
- Aadhaar Card of the Applicant.
- PAN Card.
- Domicile or Any Residence Proof of Uttar Pradesh.
- Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
- Details of National or International Sports Competition Participation.
- Certificate of Disability. (If Applicable)
- Family ID. (Parivar Pehchan Patra)
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Meritorious and Eligible Sports Person can register themselves and apply for the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award through the following ways :-
- Online through the Khel Sathi Portal.
- Offline through the Application Form.
Online Application Process
- Uttar Pradesh Government has a dedicated portal named “Khel Sathi” through which a sports person can enroll and register themselves for the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award.
- Visit the Khel Sathi Portal, scroll down a little bit and click on the Player Registration.
- A Login Form will appear from which the applicant sports person will have to choose “Don’t Have an Account? Register Here.
- A detailed registration form will appear in which the applicant will have to fill in the following details as mentioned below.
- Mobile Number of the Applicant Sports Person will be verified through OTP authentication.
- Login with your Email ID and received password after successful registration.
- Complete the profile by filling in the following details in the profile form :-
- Applicant Name and Mobile Number.
- Applicant’s Details.
- Aadhaar Card Upload.
- Upload the Birth Certificate.
- Upload Photograph and Signature.
- Current Address and Permanent Address.
- After completing the profile, select Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award to fill out the Online Application Form.
- Fill all the asked details in the Online Application Form Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
- Upload all the documents related to participation in the National or International Sports events.
- Check all the filled information in the Online Application Form and submit the online application for the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award Scheme.
- Submitted Online Application Form and Documents will be scrutinized by the District and Regional Sports Officer of the Department of Sports.
- Sports Persons selected for the award can be felicitated with a trophy, citation and cash prize of Rs. 3,11,000/- under Uttar Pradesh Government’s Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award.
- Application Status of the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award can be seen after logging in on the Khel Sathi Portal.
Offline Application Process
- Applicant Sports Person of Uttar Pradesh who participated and won a medal in any national or international events can also apply for the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award through the Offline Application Form.
- Uttar Pradesh Government’s Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award Offline Application Form is available in the District or Regional Office of the Department of Sports.
- Visit the above-mentioned office and collect the application form.
- Attached all the required documents with it.
- Submit the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Application Form along with all the documents in the same office from where the application form was collected.
- District and Regional Sports Officer will verify the received application form and documents and make a list of eligible sports persons.
- The government will then organize an award ceremony in which all the selected sports persons will receive the award under the Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai Award Scheme of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
