Introduction of Uttarakhand Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Yojana: A Brief Insight
- Uttarakhand Government runs lots of welfare schemes for the people of the State.
- One of the major welfare schemes, which is specifically started for the well-being of pregnant women, lactating mothers and their child is “Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Yojana”.
- The main objective of Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Yojana is to improve the nutritional health status of pregnant women and lactating mothers in the State.
- Government of Uttarakhand’s Women Empowerment and Child Development Department implement this scheme in the State.
- Every eligible pregnant woman and lactating mother will now get nutritional food items like Eggs and Khajoor (Dates) under Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Yojana.
- Anganwadi Centre will distribute these nutritious food items among pregnant women and lactating mothers beneficiaries, which is provided by the Uttarakhand Government under its Chief Minister Mahila Poshan Scheme.
- Every week, women beneficiaries will get Eggs on 2 Days and Khajoor on 2 Days.
- If any woman beneficiary refuses to accept eggs, then khajoor will be provided to them in place of eggs.
- Registration under the Uttarakhand Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Scheme will be done through Anganwadi Centres.
- Beneficiary Women can also register themselves under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in which financial assistance of Rs. 5,000/- will be provided at the time of birth of a child.
- Apart from that, the Uttarakhand Government will also provide a daily care kit for mother and their child under Mukhyamantri Mahalakshmi Kit Scheme, which can also be applied through the Anganwadi Centre.
- It is estimated that around 1.50 lakh women beneficiaries will get the benefit of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Scheme of the Uttarakhand Government.

- Government of Uttarakhand will provide the following benefits to all eligible pregnant women and lactating mothers under its Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Yojana :-
- Nutritious Food Items will be provided to pregnant women and Lactating Mothers.
- Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers will get Eggs on 2 Days and Dates (Khajoor) on 2 Days in a Week.
- Khajoor (Dates) will be provided to those women who are not interested in taking Eggs.
- Distribution of Eggs and Dates (Khajoor) will be done through Anganwadi Centres.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Egg and Dates (Khajoor) will be provided to only those pregnant women and lactating mothers who fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Yojana :-
- Only Permanent Resident Women of Uttarakhand are Eligible.
- Women beneficiaries should be Pregnant or Lactating mothers.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Uttarakhand Government implement Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Yojana in the State through Anganwadi Centres.
- Beneficiary Pregnant Women will have to visit their area Anganwadi Centre and meet the Anganwadi Worker.
- Anganwadi Worker present at Anganwadi Centre will register pregnant women beneficiaries in Mukhyamantri Mahila Poshan Yojana of Uttarakhand Government and in PM Matru Vandana Yojana of Central Government at the same time.
