- West Bengal Pension Scheme is the social welfare scheme of West Bengal Government.
- It was launched in the year 2010.
- The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide financial security to below mentioned Persons of West Bengal:-
- Old Age Persons.
- Widow Women.
- Disable/ Physically Handicapped Person.
- Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare of Government of West Bengal is the responsible department of this Pension Scheme.
- This scheme will also known in the West Bengal State according to the category of Applicant are as follows :-
- Pension Scheme for Old Age Person is also called “West Bengal Senior Citizen Financial Assistance Scheme” or “West Bengal Senior Citizen Pension Scheme”.
- Pension Scheme for Widow Women is also known as “West Bengal Widow Financial Assistance Scheme” or “West Bengal Widow Monthly Pension Scheme”.
- Pension Scheme for Disable Person is also called “West Bengal Disable Person Financial Assistance Scheme” or “West Bengal Disability Monthly Pension Scheme” or Handicapped Pension Scheme of West Bengal”.

Eligibility Conditions Set for Beneficiaries
- The following eligibility is set by Government of West Bengal to avail the benefit of monthly pension under West Bengal Pension Scheme:-
Common Eligibility for All Pension Applicants - Applicant Should be a Permanent Resident of West Bengal.
- OR Applicant Should be Residing in West Bengal for 10 Years.
- The Monthly Income of Applicant Should be below Rs. 1,000/- per Month.
- Applicant Should not be a recipient of any other Government Financial Assistance.
Old Age Pension - The Age of Applicant Should be :-
- 60 Years or More.
- 55 Years or More for Mentally or Physically Handicapped Old Age Applicant.
Widow Pension - Applicant Should be a Widow.
- She is in our own and not maintained by anyone in relation.
Disability Pension - Applicant Should be a Disabled/ Physically Handicapped Person.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to get Benefits
- Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for Monthly Pension under West Bengal Pension Scheme by filling the Offline Application Form.
- Application Forms for every eligible person under West Bengal Pension Scheme are as follows:-
- All the Application Forms are available free of cost at any of the following offices :-
- Office of the Block Development Officer or Panchayat Samiti. (In Rural Area).
- Office of the Sub Divisional Officer. (In Urban Area).
- Office of the Controller of Vagrancy. (In Kolkata Municipal Corporation Area).
- Take the Application Form from any of the above mentioned office and fill it carefully.
- Attach all the required documents with the application form.
- Submit the Application Form of West Bengal Pension Scheme along with all the documents in the same office from where it was collected.
- Application Form along with all the Documents will be scrutinized by the Block Development Officer or Sub Divisional Officer.
- After initial verification the applications of West Bengal Pension Scheme will be forwarded to the office of District Magistrate for final approval.
- After final approval from District Magistrate Office, the monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month under West Bengal Pension Scheme will be transferred in the given bank account of every eligible beneficiary every month.
