Introduction of West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme: A Brief Insight

• West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme is the major health care scheme of the West Bengal Government.
• It was launched on 30-12-2016.
• The main aim behind launching the Swasthya Sathi Scheme is to provide free of cost basic health care facilities to every household of West Bengal.
• The Department of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of West Bengal is the responsible department of the Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• Under the West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme, the Government of West Bengal will provide free of cost treatment to the people of West Bengal.
• Eligible Families can avail the free of cost treatment up to Rs. 5,00,000/- per year under the West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• Transport Allowance will also be provided to beneficiaries for Ambulance Charges.

• West Bengal Government will provide the premium to the insurance company on behalf of the beneficiaries.
• Treatment under the Swasthya Sathi Scheme is purely cashless, paperless and smart card-based.
• Beneficiaries of all pre-existing diseases is covered under the West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• 2,200 empaneled hospitals is deliver free of cost treatment to beneficiaries.
• Free of Cost Treatment will not be provided to beneficiaries under the following circumstances :-
  • In Case of Suicide.
  • Vaccination.
  • Fertility Related Procedures.
  • Non-Hospitalization Conditions.
  • Drug Cases.
  • Alcohol-Related Illness.
  • War or Nuclear Invasion.
• Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for the Swasthya Sathi Card in two ways:-
  • Online Through the Swasthya Sathi Scheme Portal.
  • Offline Through the Swasthya Sathi Scheme Enrollment Form.
• Beneficiaries can also check their Registration Status of Swasthya Sathi Card Online.
• Applicants can also avail the benefit of free treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh under the Central Government’s “Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana”.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• West Bengal Government under its Swasthya Sathi Scheme will provide the following benefits to all eligible beneficiaries of the State :-
  

  Free-of-cost treatment will be provided to the Beneficiary. Free of Cost Treatment can be availed up to Rs. 5,00,000/- per Year per Family. Yearly Transport Allowance of Rs. 200/- or Rs. 2,000/- per year will also be provided. Each and Every Pre Existing Disease is Covered.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The following eligibility is required to get a Swasthya Sathi Card under the West Bengal Government’s Swasthya Sathi Scheme :-The
  

  Beneficiary Should be a Permanent Resident of West Bengal.

Ineligibility Conditions for Applicants

• If any person is covered under any of the following health insurance scheme mentioned below, then he/she is not eligible to get benefits under the Swasthya Sathi Scheme:-
  

  Employee’s Insurance Scheme (ESI) 1954. West Bengal Health Scheme 2008. Central Government Health Scheme 1954. Public Sector Undertakings’ Group Medical Insurance Scheme. Medical Allowance Drawee Employee of Central/ State Government.

  Aadhar Card of Applicant. Khadya Sathi Card. Mobile Number.

Online Application Process to Enroll/ Register

• Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for the Swasthya Sathi Card by filling Online Application Form on the Swasthya Sathi Scheme Portal.
• Beneficiaries can visit the West Bengal Swasthya Sathi Scheme Portal and click on Apply Online for Swasthya Sathi Card.
• Beneficiary has to enter the Mobile Number and Verified it by OTP.
• Fill the Online Application Form of Swasthya Sathi Scheme and upload all the required documents.
• After that, Click on the Submit Button.
• A Unique Registration Number is generated by the portal.
• After Verification, the Beneficiary can download their Swasthya Sathi Card Online.

Offline Apply Process to Enroll under the Swasthya Sathi Scheme

• Eligible Beneficiary can also enroll themselves by filling Offline Enrollment Form of Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• Swasthya Sathi Scheme Enrollment Scheme is available free of cost at the Organized Camps.
• Empaneled Insurance Company will take care the registration process of eligible beneficiaries under the West Bengal Government’s Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
• Registration of Beneficiaries will be done at Camps which are organized in every town, or block of West Bengal.
• Details of Beneficiary will be uploaded by the concerned officials on the Swasthya Sathi Portal.
• A Unique Registration Slip will be provided to beneficiaries after they submit their enrollment form.
• Within 7 Days, the Activated Swasthya Sathi Card will be dispatched to the beneficiary.
