Introduction of Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme: A Brief Insight

• Education in India is currently undergoing reform.
• Students need the Internet and Mobile Phones/ Tablets more than physical books.
• And after the COVID-19 outbreak, the dependency on Mobile Phones or Tablets will increase among Students.
• From attending Online Classes to giving Online Examinations or preparing for further examinations, there is always a need for gadgets at home.
• But most of the students of Uttar Pradesh belong to a very low-income group and cannot afford the expenses of buying brand new Mobile Phones or Tablets.
• So, the Government of Uttar Pradesh came up with a solution for those income-deprived students by starting a Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme. (Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana)
• It started on the 25^th of December 2021.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to make the youth of Uttar Pradesh more technology-friendly and empowered.
• The whole process of implementation of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme will be taken care of by Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation Limited.
• Free of Cost Smartphones or Tablets will be distributed among selected students under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
• Selected Students will use these Mobile Phones and Tablets in their day-to-day educational learning.
• Apart from that, the Government of Uttar Pradesh will also send the following updates to Selected Students on their Smartphones or Tablets under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme :-
  • Scholarship Related Details.
  • Skill Training Courses Details.
  • Other Student Benefits Details.
• The student’s College or University Authority will also send the syllabus, class details, examination details and other educational-related details to the student on the given Smartphones or Tablets.
• Every Student studying in any college of Uttar Pradesh is eligible to get free Smartphones and Tablets under the Uttar Pradesh Government’s Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme.
• There is no application procedure available for the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme.
• The college and University in which the student is currently studying will make a list of eligible students for the distribution of Smartphones and Tablets.
• So, Students of Uttar Pradesh need only to sit tight and wait for the list of beneficiaries.
• The other popular name of this scheme is “Uttar Pradesh Free Tablet Scheme”.

• Any beneficiary student who wishes to pursue their master’s program at a foreign university can apply for the UP Chevening Atal Scholarship Scheme.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The following eligibility conditions is required to avail the benefit of Free of Cost Tablets and Mobile Phones under Uttar Pradesh Government’s Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme :-
  

  Permanent Residents of Uttar Pradesh. The applicant should be a Student. Applicant should be a regular student of any of the following educational courses :- Graduation Course. Post-Graduation Course. ITI Course. Technical Education Course. Technical Diploma Education Course. Diploma Course. Skill Development Course. Medical Educational Course. (Students studying in both government or private colleges are eligible to apply)

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Government of Uttar Pradesh makes the application procedure of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme very simple.
• Students don’t have to apply for free tablets or mobile smartphones anywhere.
• A list of Eligible Students will be made by the College or University in which the Students are currently studying.
• Once the student is shortlisted by the College or University for the distribution of tablets or smartphones, the list will then be forwarded for further verification to the concerned department of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
• Upon the final selection of eligible students, they will be informed through SMS or Email and a list will also be made available in the College/ University.
• Free-of-cost tablets or smartphones will be distributed among selected students in a public function organized by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Student’s E-KYC Process

• It is mandatory for students to complete their Aadhaar e-KYC on Digishakti Portal (Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme Portal).
• Students whose e-KYC is pending or the current status is showing pending can complete their e-KYC of Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme through Meri Pehchal Portal.
  
• Visit the Digishakti Portal and Click on the e-KYC through Meri Pehchaan Portal as shown in above mentioned image.
• Fill Name of the University, College Name, Enrollment Number and click on Search.
  
• Portal will display the complete details of the students, from which student will have enter the details of their Aadhaar Card on Meri Pehchaan Portal and complete the e-Process of Uttar Pradesh Government’s Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme.
