Introduction of Chhattisgarh Mahatari Vandan Yojana: A Brief Insight
The Government of Chhattisgarh launched the Mahatari Vandan Yojana (महतारी वंदन योजना) on 1st March 2024 with a clear goal – to make women of the state financially self-reliant and improve their health and nutritional status. The Women
and Child Development Department implements this scheme across Chhattisgarh.
Under this scheme, the Chhattisgarh Government directly transfers Rs. 1,000/- every month into the Aadhaar-linked bank account of every eligible woman – that is Rs. 12,000/- per year. Any woman who is a permanent resident of Chhattisgarh and 21 years or older can apply. There is no minimum income requirement, though some ineligibility conditions apply to ensure transparency.
For the year 2026-2027, the Chhattisgarh Government has allocated a budget of Rs. 8,200 crore for the smooth implementation of Mahatari Vandan Yojana. So far, more than 70 lakh women beneficiaries have received over Rs. 14,000 crore since its launch – making it one of the largest direct benefit transfer schemes for women in Central India.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Ji released the 25th Instalment of Mahatari Vandan Yojana on 8th March 2026, under which around 69 lakh women received more than Rs. 650 Crore directly into their bank accounts. Women who want to check their
25th installment payment status – or find out why their payment was not credited – can contact the Child Development Program Officer (CDPO) of their area.
To apply, women can collect the offline application form from their nearest Anganwadi Centre, Gram Panchayat, Ward Office, or CDPO Office and submit it with the required documents. Once approved, Rs. 1,000/- gets transferred directly every month. Beneficiaries can also check their payment status anytime through the Official Mahatari Vandan Mobile App, available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
If any woman has a grievance related to this scheme, she can directly file a complaint on the official website using her Beneficiary Code or registered Mobile Number.

The Chhattisgarh Government also launched the Mahatari Shakti Loan Scheme on 30th November 2024 exclusively for Mahatari Vandan beneficiaries. Under this scheme, women can avail a collateral-free loan of Rs. 25,000/- for self-employment purposes.
