Introduction of Odisha Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana: A Brief Insight

• The Odisha Government launched the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana on 1-2-2016.
• It is a pilgrimage scheme for senior citizens which was launched with an objective to fulfill the spiritual desire of old age people of Odisha State.
• Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana is implemented by the Department of Tourism of the Government of Odisha in collaboration with IRCTC.
• Odisha Government will provide the facility to senior citizens of the State to visit famous pilgrimage places across India free of cost under the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana.
• All the expenses incurred on travelling, accommodation, and food will be borne by the Odisha Government.
• The beneficiary Senior Citizen doesn’t have to pay a single penny during the entire journey.
• People in the age group of 60 years to 75 years are eligible to avail the benefit of a free visit to religious places under the Government of Odisha’s Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana.
• IRCTC will provide the tour package to pilgrims under this Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme of the Odisha Government which includes :-

• There is also a facility to take an attendant on the journey if the applicant’s age is more than 70 years.

• Preference in selection will be given to the poor and economically weaker sections of people.
• Odisha Government has provided the facility to submit applications under the Baristha Nagarika Teertha Yatra Scheme through both online and offline application forms.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Odisha Government under its Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana will provide the following benefits to all eligible senior citizens of state :-
  • Free of Cost Visit to Famous Religious Places across India.
  • Free Accommodation, Food and Travelling in 2nd AC Sleeper Train or AC Bus.
  • Travel Kit will be provided by IRCTC.
  • Attendant Facility is also Available by paying 50% of the Travel Cost.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• The benefit of a free visit to famous religious places across the country will be provided to only those applicants who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana of the Odisha Government :-
  

  Permanent Resident Senior Citizens of Odisha are Eligible to Apply. Applicant’s Age should be between 60 years to 75 years. Applicant should be medically and Physically Fit. Applicant should not be suffering from any Communicable Disease. Applicant who comes under the ambit of any one of the following categories are eligible :- Annapurna or Antyodaya Card Families. NFSA Ration Card Families. Old Age or Widow Pension Scheme Beneficiary. MGNREGA Job Card Holders. BPL Card Holder Families. The attendant can accompany if the age of the applicant is more than 70 years. The Age of the Attendant should be more than 18 years. The facility of a Free Visit to Religious Places can be avail once in a lifetime.

• Applicant Senior Citizen will have to attach or upload the following documents at the time of applying for a free of cost visit to religious places under Government of Odisha’s Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana :-
  • Photo of Applicant.
  • Photo of Spouse. (If the Couple is Travelling)
  • Photo of Attendant. (If Applicable)
  • Mobile Number and Email.
  • Aadhaar Card of Applicant.
  • Aadhaar Card of Spouse.
  • Aadhaar Card of Attendant. (If Applicable)
  • Recent 2 Color Passport Size Photograph.
  • Age Proof.
  • Medical Fitness Certificate.

Online Application Process

• Online Application Form of the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana of the Odisha Government can be filled out online through Tourism Travel Scheme Management System Portal.
• Visit the Portal and Click on Proceed.
  
• Click on Sign Up for New Registration.
• A Registration Form of Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana will appear in which the beneficiary applicant will have to enter his/ her name and mobile number.
  
• Mobile Number of the applicant will be verified through OTP by the portal.
• Login with the help of your Mobile Number.
  
• After login, enter the pilgrimage trip details and fill Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana Online Application Form in the following steps :-
  • Personal Details.
  • Address Details.
  • Identification Details.
  • Communication Details.
  • Applicant and Spouse Details.

• Check all the filled details and click on the submit button to submit the application form.
• The portal will generate the Registration Number of Baristha Nargarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana after successful submission of the application form.

• The selection of applicants will be done through a lottery system.

Offline Application Process

• Tourism Department of the Odisha Government will publish the advertisement regarding accepting applications under the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana.
• Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana Offline Application Form in English and Odia Language is available in the below-mentioned government offices :-
  • District Collectorate.
  • Block Office.
  • Tehsil.
  • Gram Panchayat Office.
  • District Tourism Offices.
• The interested Senior Citizen Applicant will have to collect the application form from any of the above-mentioned offices.
• Fill the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana Application Form correctly and attach all the required documents.
• Applicants can submit the application form by visiting the same office or through speed post.
• Application received by any office will be sent it to the District Tourist Officer’s Office.
• District Tourist Officer will allot the district-wise code and registration number and further send it to the District Level Committee for the selection of the applicant.
• District Level Committee under the Chairmanship of District Collector will select the applicants through a transparent lottery system..
• List of Applicants selected for free pilgrimage visit under Odisha Government’s Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana will be published in District Headquarters, Tourist Office and Block Offices for the public.
• Selected Applicants will have to reach the starting point as and when told by the administration.
