Benefits of Mukhyamantri Digital Library Yojana Bihar

Introduction of Bihar Mukhyamantri Digital Library Yojana: A Brief Insight

Every year, many talented students from Bihar move to cities like Patna, Kota, and Delhi to prepare for competitive exams. The main reason is that quality study material, high-speed internet, and digital learning facilities are not easily available in many parts of the state. At the same time, coaching fees and online subscriptions are too expensive for many families.

To solve this problem, the Department of Information Technology (DoIT), Government of Bihar, launched the Mukhyamantri Digital Library Yojana (MMDLY). The scheme aims to provide free digital learning facilities so that students can prepare for competitive exams without leaving their hometowns.

The Bihar Government has approved a budget of Rs. 94.50 crore to establish Digital Library Centres across all 243 Assembly constituencies of the state. Every local centre is equipped with 10 computers, high-speed broadband internet, and access to more than 20,000 e-books, Premium Journals, Mock Tests, and video lectures. Regional centres at the divisional level have 50 computers each, while the state-level model library in Patna has 60 computers.

Students do not need to apply online. They can visit their nearest Digital Library Centre located in Panchayat Bhawans, Block Offices, Nagar Parishad Bhawans, or selected Government Schools and Colleges. After completing a simple registration with the required documents, they receive a free Digital Library Card or Login ID to access all available facilities.

All services, including computer access, internet, study material, mock tests, and video lectures, are provided completely free of cost. Every centre is managed by a Supervisor and a Technical In-Charge appointed by the Department of Information Technology.
