Introduction of Andhra Pradesh Deepam Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • Telugu Desam Party announced lots of welfare schemes in their election manifesto to woo the voters of Andhra Pradesh to win the assembly election.
  • One of the major welfare schemes announced by the party was the  “Deepam Scheme”.
  • Although this scheme was not new, it was also run by TDP before 2019 when the party was in power.
  • Now, TDP won the assembly election of Andhra Pradesh, so this scheme is going to be relaunched soon in the State.
  • This is an election promise of TDP along with other ones which are “Nirudyoga Bruthi Scheme”Annadata Sukhibhava Scheme”, “Chandranna Bima Scheme”, “Aadabidda Nidhi Scheme”.
  • The main aim of this scheme is to provide clean fuel to every household for cooking purposes.
  • Free of Cost LPG Gas Cylinders will be provided to all eligible households of Andhra Pradesh under the Deepam Scheme.
  • Every year, 3 LPG Gas cylinders without any cost will be provided to selected beneficiaries under this scheme of the Andhra Pradesh Government.
  • This means that Andhra Pradesh people will not have to pay any money for 3 LPG Gas Cylinders, which they purchased from the Gas Company.
  • Pre-installed gas connection is mandatorily required in order to avail the benefit of the Deepam Pathakam.
  • Only domestic gas connection consumers are eligible to get free gas cylinders under this Scheme.
  • Commercial LPG Gas Connection users are not eligible to get free of cost 3 gas cylinders under the Andhra Pradesh Deepam Scheme.
  • From October 31, 2024 on the special occasion of Diwali, the Government of Andhra Pradesh will distribute the First Free LPG Gas Cylinder under this scheme.
  • Afterwards, LPG Gas Cylinders will be distributed on festival days to Deepam Beneficiaries.
  • The other major name of this scheme is “Deepam Pathakam” or “Free Gas Cylinder Scheme Andhra Pradesh” or “Free LPG Gas Scheme Andhra Pradesh”.
  • Application Form of the Deepam Scheme is available free of cost in the office of the Mandal Revenue Officer or in the office of the Gram Panchayat.
  • Beneficiaries can collect the Application Form and avail themselves of free of cost gas cylinders.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • Benefits provided by the Andhra Pradesh Government to all eligible beneficiaries under the Deepam Scheme are as follows :-
    • Yearly Free LPG Gas Cylinders will be provided.
    • 3 LPG Gas Cylinders per Year free of cost will be given to beneficiaries.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • Per Year Free of Cost 3 LPG Gas Cylinders will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility conditions of the Deepam Scheme of the Andhra Pradesh Government :-
    • The beneficiary should be a Permanent Resident of Andhra Pradesh.
    • BPL Families are Only Eligible to Apply for the Deepam Scheme.
    • The beneficiary should have a valid PM Ujjwala Yojana Domestic Gas Connection.
    • Only One Domestic Gas Connection per Household is eligible.
    • Benefits will be provided on a 14.2 Kg Domestic LPG Gas Cylinder.

Documents Required to be Attached

  • The following documents are to be attached along with the Application Form of Deepam Scheme at the time of applying for free of cost 3 gas cylinders per year :-
    • Residence Proof of Andhra Pradesh.
    • Beneficiary Aadhar Card.
    • PM Ujjwala Scheme Number.
    • Gas Connection Book.
    • Mobile Number.
    • Passport Size Photo.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • Eligible households can apply for 3 gas cylinders free of cost yearly under the Deepam Scheme of the Andhra Pradesh Government by applying through the Application Form.
  • Application Form of the Deepam Scheme is available free of cost in the office of the Mandal Revenue Office or the Gram Panchayat Office.
  • Collect the Deepam Scheme Application Form and fill it carefully.
  • Attach all the required documents with the application form.
  • Now, submit the Deepam Pathakam Application Form along with all the documents in the Office of the Mandal Revenue Officer.
  • Mandal Revenue Officer makes an entry online of all received application forms under the Deepam scheme.
  • DSO of that particular area will then further approve the applications of the Deepam Scheme.
  • Beneficiaries will be informed through SMS on their mobile phones about the selection.
  • Selected Beneficiaries will get 3 cylinders per year free of cost under the Andhra Pradesh Government’s Deepam Scheme.
  • Beneficiary Women can check Year-Wise and State-Wise Deepam Pathakam Beneficiary Details Online.
  • 1st Free Gas Cylinder under the Deepam Pathakam of the Andhra Pradesh Government will be provided to beneficiaries on the special occasion of Deepawali on 31st of October 2024.

How to Check Deepam Status

  • Beneficiary Applicants can also check the Status of the Deepam Scheme Online.
  • Visit the Portal of Deepam Scheme and select “Click Here for Deepam-2 Dashboard.

  • A Deepam-2.0 dashboard will open from which the applicant will have to click on “Know Your Deepam – 2 Status”.

  • Now enter your Rice Card Number or LPG Consumer ID and click on send OTP.

  • The portal will verify the details of the applicant.
  • After verification, the Status of Deepam Pathakam of the Andhra Pradesh Government will appear on the screen.
