Introduction of Andhra Pradesh Stree Shakti Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Andhra Pradesh Government is all set to launch the “Stree Shakti Scheme” which is also known as the Free Bus Travel for Women Scheme on 15th of August 2025.
- This public initiative is a part of the TDP-led Andhra Pradesh Government’s Super Six Promises, which aims to empower women, girls, and transgender individuals by providing them free bus travel across the state in selected bus services of AP State Road Transport Corporation.
- Under the Stree Shakti Scheme, eligible beneficiaries will not be required to purchase a ticket while travelling; instead, the bus conductor will issue a zero-fare ticket after verifying the valid photo-based Identity Proof.
- This scheme covers the popular bus services such as Pallevelugu, City Ordinary, Ultra Pallevelugu, Express Service and Metro Express, making everyday travel safer, affordable and accessible for women, girls and transgender beneficiaries.
- Benefits of free travel in a bus under the Stree Shakti Scheme will be provided only within the state boundary of Andhra Pradesh.
- But bus services like, Non Stop, Inter State, Chartered, Package Tours, AC, Start Liner, Super Luxury, Ultra Deluxe, and Saptgiri Express are not eligible for free of cost travel under the Stree Shakti Scheme of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N Chandrababu Naidu will going to launch the Stree Shakti Scheme on August 15th at Pandit Nehru Bus Station in Vijayawada.
- So from 15-08-2025, Girl, Women and Transgender individuals can travel free of cost in buses of APSRTC across Andhra Pradesh.
- Apart from free travel in buses, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, through the Stree Shakit Scheme, also ensures the security of the women passengers by supplying body-worn cameras to all women conductors and CC Cameras will also be installed in the buses.
- The government will also ensure the availability of basic and essential public amenities like Fans, Chairs, Drinking Water, and toilets in all bus stations of the State.

- Government has already implemented other promises like “Deepam Scheme”, “Thalliki Vandanam Scheme” and “Annadata Sukhibhava Scheme”.
- Very soon, the TDP-led Andhra Pradesh will be going to launch the remaining 2 promises which are “Nirudyoga Bruthi Scheme” and “Aadabidda Nidhi Scheme”.
- By fulfilling these commitments, the Andhra Pradesh Government is ensuring inclusive growth and welfare for citizens across multiple sectors.
- Women Beneficiaries who deliver a newborn baby can also apply for “NTR Baby Kit Scheme” in which a baby care kit consisting of 11 items will be provided by the Andhra Pradesh Government.
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Government of Andhra Pradesh will provide the following benefits to all eligible girl, women, and transgender individuals under the Stree Shakti Scheme, alias Free Bus Travel for Women Scheme :-
- Free of Cost Travel in Buses.
- No Need to Pay any Fare.
- The conductor will issue a Zero Fare Ticket after checking the Identity Proof.
- The benefits of Free Travel in Buses is applicable only within the Andhra Pradesh State Boundary.
Bus Services Covered Under AP Stree Shakti Scheme
- Under the Andhra Pradesh Government Stree Shakti Free Bus Travel Scheme for Women, beneficiaries can avail the free travel facility in the following types of bus services :-
- Pallevelugu.
- Ultra Pallevelugu.
- City Ordinary.
- Metro Express.
- Express Services.
Services Not Covered Under AP Stree Shakti Scheme
- The Stree Shakti Scheme free travel facility will not apply to the following bus services. If a beneficiary chooses to travel in any of these services, then they have to pay the actual fare of the bus :-
- All Non-Stop Services.
- Chartered Services.
- Interstate Services.
- Package Tours.
- Saptgiri Express.
- Ultra Deluxe.
- Super Luxury,
- Star Liner.
- All AC Services.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Government of Andhra Pradesh will provide the benefits of free bus travel under the Stree Shakti Scheme to only those beneficiaries who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of scheme :-
- Only the following beneficiaries are eligible for free travel in bus :-
- Girl.
- Women.
- Trangender.
- Girl, Women, Transgender Beneficiary should be a domiciled resident of Andhra Pradesh.
- It is mandatory to show any valid identity proof during travel.
- Only the following beneficiaries are eligible for free travel in bus :-
Documents Required to be Attached
- Free of Cost Travel in Buses within Andhra Pradesh under the Stree Shakti Scheme to eligible beneficiaries is only provided on the production of any one of the below mentioned identity proof :-
- Aadhaar Card.
- Ration Card.
- TTD Darshan Ticket.
- School/ College ID.
- Voter Identity Card.
- Passport.
- Driving License.
- Or Any other valid Government issued Photo Identity Card.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Eligible Women, girls and Transgender beneficiaries will not have to apply directly under the Stree Shakti Scheme of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to travel free of cost within the State.
- They just have to board in the bus with their photo-based valid identity proof, preferably in original.
- The conductor of the bus will verify the identity proof of the beneficiary and generate a zero-fare ticket in favour of the beneficiary under the Stree Shakti Scheme of the Andhra Pradesh Government.
- It is hereby reminded that, beneficiaries will only travel free of cost in buses under Stree Shakti Pathakam within the state boundary of Andhra Pradesh in Pallevelugu, Ultra Pallevelugu, Express Service, Metro Express and City Ordinary Buses which come under Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
- Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department will reimburse the amount of Zero Fair Ticket to Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
- Free Bus Service under Sthe tree Shakti Scheme of Andhra Pradesh is applicable from 15th of August 2025.
