Introduction of Shaadi Tohfa Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • Shaadi Tohfa Scheme is a major social welfare scheme of Andhra Pradesh Government.
  • It was launched by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on 1st of October 2022.
  • Earlier the name of this scheme was YSR Shaadi Tohfa Scheme.
  • But after the change in Government in 2024, the new Telugu Desam-led Andhra Pradesh Government removed the YSR from Scheme.
  • This scheme is also called Shaadi Tohfa Pathakam.
  • The main objective behind launching this Scheme is to provide financial assistance to poor Muslim brides for their marriage.
  • It is a fact that marriage is an expensive affair and many people face various difficulties for their daughter’s marriage financially.
  • Now the Andhra Pradesh Government provides financial assistance to the brides so that they can easily conduct all the affairs in marriage.
  • Under this Scheme, the Government of Andhra Pradesh will provide financial assistance of Rs. 1,00,000/- (One Lakh Rupees Only) for the marriage of poor Muslim brides.
  • Only Muslim Brides are eligible to avail the benefit of financial assistance under this Scheme.
  • Muslim Brides or the Family members of the Bride can apply under the Shaadi Tohfa Scheme within 60 days of the marriage.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • The following Financial Assistance will be provided to Brides under the Shaadi Tohfa Scheme :-
    • Financial Assistance for Marriage will be provided to Poor Brides.
    • Rs. 1,00,000/- (One Lakh Rupees Only) for Marriage.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • Bride should be belong to the Muslim Community.
  • Marriages held on or after 01/10/2022.
  • Bride Age should be 18 Years.
  • Bride Groom Age should be 21 Years.
  • The Family Income of Bride and Bridegroom should not more than :-
    • Rs. 10,000/- per month in Rural Areas.
    • Rs. 12,000/- per month in Urban Areas.
  • Bride and Bride Groom’s Family Land Holding should not be more than :-
    • 3 Acre of Wet Land or,
    • 10 Acre of Dry Land or,
    • 10 Acre Total. (Both Wet and Dry).
  • Monthly electricity Consumption should not be more than 300 units.

Ineligibility Conditions Sets for Brides

  • Following Families are ineligible to apply under for marriages assistance as promised under Shaadi Tohfa Scheme :-
    • Whose Family Member is a Income Tax Payee.
    • Owner of more than 1000 Sq. Ft of Commercial or Residential Area.
    • Have a Four Wheeler in their Home. (Tractor, Autos and Taxis are exempted).
    • Who consume more than 300 units of Electricity.

Documents Required to be Attached

  • The following documents are required at the time of applying for Shaadi Tohfa Scheme :-
    • Bride and Bride Groom Aadhar Number.
    • Certificate of Marriage.
    • Wedding Card.
    • Photographs of Wedding.
    • Birth Certificate of Bride.
    • Income Certificate.
    • Caste / Minority Certificate.
    • 10th Marksheet.
    • Father / Mother / Guardians Aadhar Card.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

Online Application Application Procedure

  • Applicant has to visit Navasakam Beneficiary Management Portal First to apply for Shaadi Tohfa Pathakam.
  • Select Citizen Login from the portal and Click on Login.
  • Applicant has to enter the Aadhar Number for OTP Verification.
  • Once the OTP is verified, the Applicant has to choose the Shaadi Tohfa Scheme from the Services List.
  • Then the Online Application Form of Shaadi Tohfa Scheme has appeared on the screen.
  • Fill the Personal Details, Wedding Details and upload the required documents.
  • Then Click on Submit.
  • Application Form and Documents will be verified by Ward Welfare Secretary or Welfare and Education Assistant.
  • Then the officer will conduct the ground verification by visiting the Bride and groom’s house.
  • Once verified the Application Form will be forwarded to the Mandal Parishad Development Officer for further verification.
  • Mandal Parishad Officer then forwarded the Application Form to the Project Director of District Rural Development Authority.
  • Then District Rural Development Authority Director will forward the Application for final approval to District Collector.
  • Once the District Collector approves the list of final beneficiaries, the financial assistance of Rs. 1,00,000/- under Shaadi Tohfa Scheme will be transferred in the bank account of beneficiary.

Offline Application Application Procedure

  • Applicant can also apply for Shaadi Tohfa Scheme through Application Form.
  • Application Forms are available free of cost in all secretariat office.
  • Fill the required details in the Application Form and Attach the documents needed.
  • Then submit the Form with documents in Secretariat Office.
  • Ward Welfare Secretary or Welfare and Education Assistant then scrutinize the Application Form and uploaded it on the Navasakam Beneficiary Management Portal.
  • Once the documents and Application Form of Shaadi Tohfa Scheme uploaded on the portal then it will forwarded to Mandal Parishad Development Officer for further verification.
  • Mandal Parishad Officer then forward the Application Form to the Project Director of District Rural Development Authority.
  • Then District Rural Development Authority Director will forward the Application for final approval to District Collector.
  • Once the District Collector approve the list of final beneficiaries, the financial assistance of Rs. 1,00,000/- under Shaadi Tohfa Scheme will be transferred in the bank account of beneficiary.
