Male Government Employees will get 2% and 3 % interest subsidy on the purchase of diesel/ petrol and electric vehicles, respectively. Introduction of Assam Apun Bahan Scheme: A Brief Insight

  • Government of Assam started the Apun Bahan Scheme for its employees on 02-08-2023.
  • The main objective of the Government behind starting this scheme is to fulfill the dreams of those government employees who want to purchase a two or four-wheeler of their own.
  • Assam Government’s Finance Department is the implementing department of this scheme.
  • The government will now provide financial relief to permanent State Government Employees so that they can easily purchase 2 or 4 wheeler for their family.
  • Benefits of interest subsidy will be provided under the Apun Bahan Scheme on the purchase of 2 or four wheelers to all eligible beneficiary government employees.
  • Male Government Employees will get the following interest subsidy :-
    • 2% on the Purchase of :- Petrol or Diesel Vehicle.
    • 3% on the Purchase of :- Electric Vehicles.

  • Benefits of Apun Bahan Achoni will only be provided to regular and permanent employees of theĀ  Assam Government whose age is between 21 years to 53 years.
  • Purchase Vehicle should be in the name of a Government Employee, and the vehicle cannot be used for commercial purposes.
  • The other major and popular names of this scheme are “Apun Bahan Achoni Assam” or “Apun Bahan Yojana Assam” or “Assam Vehicle Subsidy Scheme for Government Employee”.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

  • Government of Assam will provide the following benefits to its regular and permanent employees under Apun Bahan Scheme :-
    • Interest Subvention will be provided on the purchase of two and four-wheelers.
    • Male employees will get 2% Interest Subsidy on Diesel/ Petrol Vehicle purchases and 3% Interest Subsidy on the purchase of Electric Vehicles.
    • Woman and differently-abled employees will get a 3% Interest Subsidy on the purchase of any kind of vehicle.
    • Subsidy Amount will be credited to the Salary Account of the Employee.
    • Bank Loan of 85% to 90% Road Price of the Vehicle is also available.
    • Maximum Loan Amount will be Rs. 15,00,000/- or 48 Times of Net Monthly Income. (Whichever is Lower)
    • Loan Repayment Period is 3 Years to 7 Years.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

  • Interest Subsidy on the purchase of two-wheeler or four-wheeler under the Assam Government’s Apun Bahan Scheme will only be provided to those beneficiaries who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of scheme :-
    • Permanent Government Employees of the Assam Government are Eligible.
    • Employee’s Age should be between 21 Years to 53 Years.
    • An employee’s Serving Period in the Assam Government should be a minimum 7 Years.
    • Annual Income of Employee and Co Applicant should be Rs. 3,00,000/- or above.

Documents Required to be Attached

  • Employees of the Assam Government will have to submit the below-mentioned documents with the Application Form of Apun Bahan Scheme in order to avail the benefit of interest subsidy on the purchase of a two or 4 wheeler:-
    • Residence Proof or Domicile of Assam.
    • Aadhaar Card of Employee.
    • Employee Identity Card.
    • Quotation of Vehicle.
    • Salary Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
    • Mobile Number and Email.
    • Identity Proof of Co-Applicant. (If Applicable)
    • Copy of Income Tax Return. (ITR)

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

  • Interested and Eligible Permanent Employees of the Assam State Government can apply for the benefit of interest subsidy under the Apun Bahan Scheme through the Offline Application Form.
  • Application Form of Apun Bahan Scheme can be collected from banks or from the office of the Drawing and Disbursement Officer of the Finance Department.
  • Collect the Apun Bahan Scheme Application Form and fill it without making any mistakes.
  • Attach all the required documents with the Application Form.
  • Submit the duly filled Application Form along with all the documents to the Drawing and Disbursment Officer’s Office. (DDOs)
  • DDO will verify the received application form and documents and certify it.
  • Selected Employees List will then be forwarded to the concerned bank for further approval.
  • Respective Bank will then do the final verification and approve the loan.
  • Loan Amount will be directly disbursed to a Two or Four Wheeler Dealer.
  • Government of Assam will disburse the amount of interest subsidy directly in the bank account of government employee.
  • Beneficiary Government Employee will have to repay the loan amount in 3 to 7 years of time.
  • Application Status of the Apun Bahan Scheme can be checked by visiting the Office of the Drawing and Disbursing Officer. (DDO)
