Introduction of Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana: A Brief Insight
- Assam Government started Punya Dham Scheme with an objective to provide pilgrimage tours for senior citizens of State.
- It is a very successful scheme in which thousands of beneficiaries visited Jagannath Puuri, Mathura – Vrindaban, Ajmer Sharif Dargah and Vaishno Devi.
- Now Government of Assam took one more step further and started a new pilgrimage tour scheme for the people of State.
- The name of the Scheme is “Punya Tirtha Yojana”.
- This scheme is announced by finance minister of Assam Smt. Ajanta Neog while presenting the budget of the year 2024-2025.
- The main aim of this scheme is to facilitate pilgrimage for the devotees to visit the very sacred Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya Dham.
- Tourism Department of Assam Government is the implementing department and Tourism Development Corporation is the implementing agency of this scheme.
- Devotees will now visit Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya Dham free of cost without spending a single penny.
- Travel Expenses, Staying Expenses, Expenses on Food, and all type of expenses which will be incurred during the visit to Shri Ram Mandir will be borne by Assam Government.
- Punya Tirtha Yojana will be implemented by Government in phased manner in which initially 25,000 devotees will be selected and sent to Ayodhya Dham to visit Shri Ram Mandir.
- For the year 2024-2025, Assam Government also allocated a budget of Rs. 25/- crore for better implementation of this scheme.
- There are also some famous names of this scheme which are “Punya Tirtha Scheme” or “Punya Teertha Yojana” or “Punya Teertha Scheme”.
- Punya Tirtha Yojana Application Form can be collected from Tourism Department or Tourism Development Corporation District Office.
- There is no facility available to apply through the Online Application Form.
- Preference in selection will be given to senior citizen and physically challenged people.
- Only completely medically well and fit to travel devotees will be allowed to travel to Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya Dham under Assam Government’s Punya Tirtha Yojana.
- In case of any help or assistance required regarding Punya Tirtha Yojana, devotees can contact their nearest District Office of Tourism Department or Toursim Development Corporation Limited.
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Assam Government will provide the following benefits to all eligible beneficiaries/ devotees under Punya Tirtha Yojana :-
- Government facilitate a free of cost visit to Prabhu Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya for Devotees.
- Travel, Food and Stay of Devotees will be arranged by Assam Government.
- No Single Rupee will have to pay by Devotees, complete visit to Shri Ram Mandir is free of cost.
- Initially 25,000 Devotees will be selected and sent for Pilgrimage to Shri Ram Mandir under Punya Tirtha Yojana.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Government of Assam will only provide the facility of free of cost visit to Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham to only those devotees/ beneficiaries who fufll the below mentioned eligibility criteria of Punya Tirtha Yojana :-
- Only Permanent Resident of Assam are eligible to Apply.
- Devotee Age should be more than 18 Years.
- Devotee should have no Health Ailments.
- Devotee should be completely Medically Fit and able to Travel.
Documents Required to be Attached
- Beneficiary devotee will have to submit the following documents with the Application Form of Punya Tirtha Yojana of Assam Government in order to visit Shri Ram Mandir (Ayodhya Dham) without any cost :-
- Residence Proof or Domicile Certificate of Assam State.
- Beneficiary Aadhaar Card.
- Proof of Age.
- Voter Identity Card of Beneficiary.
- Certificate of Income.
- Fitness/ Medical Certificate of Beneficiary.
- Email and Mobile Number.
- Passport Size Photograph.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Assam Finance Minister Smt. Ajanta Neog presents the State budget for the year 2024-2025 on 12-02-2024.
- She announced Punya Tirtha Yojana in which government will arrange the visit to Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham for eligible people without taking any cost.
- Eligible Beneficiaries who are interested to visit Shri Ram Mandir can apply for this scheme through Application Form.
- Application Form of Punya Tirtha Yojana of Assam Government is available at the District Office of Tourism Department or at District Office of Tourism Development Corporation.
- Beneficiary Devotee will have to collect the Application Form and fill it carefully without making any mistake.
- Attach all the required documents with it.
- Submit Punya Tirtha Yojana Application Form along with all the documents in the same District Office of Tourism Department of Tourism Development Corporation of Assam Government.
- Concerned Officials will verify the received application form along with all the documents and make a list of eligible beneficiaries.
- Selected Beneficiaries will be informed through SMS on their mobile phone about their selection.
- Preference will be given to old age people and disabled people in selection process of Punya Tirtha Yojana.
- Assam Government will then arrange the travel, food and stay of selected beneficiaries for their visit to Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Dham.
- Tourism Department will separately provide the details of date and time of their journey.
- At present, No Website of Punya Tirtha Yojana is available through which beneficiary can apply.
