Introduction of Gujarat Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana: A Brief Insight

• Government of Gujarat started “Vidhva Sahay Yojana” for those women beneficiaries who lost their husbands and whose financial conditions are not stable due to their primary bread earner.
• The main aim behind starting this scheme is to provide financial support to the widows of Gujarat so that they do not have to depend on anyone financially.
• Gujarat Government’s Department of Women and Child Development is the implementing department of this scheme.
• In the year 2019, the Government made two major changes to this scheme.
• The name of this scheme is changed from “Vidhva Sahay Yojana” to “Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana”.
• And the second one is, the financial assistance is increased from Rs. 1,000/- per month to Rs. 1,250/- per month.
• So, a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,250/- per month as a widow pension will be provided to all eligible widow women beneficiaries under Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana.
• Widow Women whose age is 18 years or older are only eligible to apply for the monthly widow pension under this scheme.
• Government also fixed the annual family income limit for beneficiaries, in which widows from Urban Areas should have Rs. 1,50,000/- per year annual income and widows from Rural Areas should have Rs. 1,20,000/- per year annual income.
• Amount of Widow Pension under Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana will be transferred in the bank account of widow beneficiary in the 1st week of every month.
• Submitting the Death Certificate ofthe  Husband is mandatorily required at the time of application.
• For smooth implementation of this scheme, the Gujarat Government allocated a budget of Rs. 3,015/- crore for the year 2025-2026.
• If a widowed woman has remarried, then she is not eligible to apply for a widow’s pension under this scheme.
• And if there is a 21-year-old son of a widowed woman, then also she is not eligible to get a monthly widow pension under Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana.
• It is to be estimated that more than 4 lakh women benefit from this scheme and they are now financially stable.
• This scheme has some popular and major names also which are “Ganga Swaroopa Widow Pension Scheme Gujarat” or “Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Scheme Gujarat” or “Ganga Swarupa Widow Pension Yojana Gujarat” or “Gujarat Widow Pension Scheme”.
• Widow Women can apply to get a Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,250/- per month under the Gujarat Government’s Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana by filling the Application Form which is available at the Mamlatdar Office or Village Computer Entrepreneur (VCE) Office.
• Beneficiary Widow Women can also contact the Women and Child Development Department District Office in case of any help or assistance required regarding Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana of the Gujarat Government.
• The daughter’s of widow beneficiaries can also apply for “Namo Lakshmi Scheme” in which monthly financial assistance as a scholarship will be provided by Gujarat Government.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Government of Gujarat will provide the following benefits to all eligible widow beneficiaries under its Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana :-
  • Monthly Financial Assistance will be provided to widowed women.
  • Widow Women will get Rs. 1,250/- per Month.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Monthly Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,250/- per month as a pension will only be provided to those women beneficiaries who fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Gujarat Government’s Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana :-
  • Beneficiary Women should be widows.
  • Permanent Residents of Gujarat are only Eligible to apply.
  • The Age of widowed women should be 18 years or more.
  • The Family Annual Income of Widow Women should be Rs. 1,50,000/- per year in Urban Area and Rs. 1,20,000/- per year in Rural Area.
  • If a widowed woman has remarried, then she is not Eligible to apply.

Documents Required to be Attached

• Beneficiary Widow Women will have to attach the following documents with the Gujarat Government’s Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana Application Form :-
  • Photograph of Widow Beneficiary.
  • Family Ration Card.
  • School Leaving Certificate.
  • Certificate of Income.
  • Death Certificate of Husband.
  • Aadhaar Card of Women Beneficiary.
  • Voter Identity Card/ Birth Certificate.
  • Latest Electricity Bill.
  • Widow Certificate. (If Available)
  • Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
  • Mobile Number.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• To avail the benefit of a monthly widow pension of Rs. 1,250/- per month under the Government of Gujarat’s Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana, the beneficiary widow will have to apply through the Application Form.
• Application Form of Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana can be collected by paying just Rs. 20/- at any of the below mentioned offices :-
  • Village Computer Entrepreneur (VCE) in Urban Areas.
  • Mamlatdar Office/ Talati Office in Rural Area.
• Take the Application Form, fill it out correctly and attach all the required documents with it.
• Now, submit the Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana Application Form along with all the documents in the same office.
• Officials in the Taluka Mamlatdar’s Office will primarily verify the received application form and documents and make a list of eligible widow beneficiaries.
• List of Widow Beneficiaries found eligible for the monthly pension will then be forwarded to the Office of Women and Child Development Department for further approval.
• After final approval from the Department’s side, the widow’s pension of Rs. 1,250/- per month will be transferred in the bank account of the widow beneficiary.
• Application Status of Ganga Swaroopa Arthik Sahay Yojana can be checked by contacting the Mamlatdar Office.
