Introduction of Namo Shree Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Namo Shree Scheme is the flagship scheme of the Government of Gujarat, specifically announced for the welfare of women of the state.
- It was announced by Gujarat Finance Minister Shree Kanubhai Desai while presenting the Gujarat Government’s budget for 2024-2025 with another major welfare scheme named “Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme”.
- The main aim of the Gujarat Government behind starting the Namo Shree Scheme is to support pregnant women and lactating mothers of the state financially so that they can easily manage and take the appropriate value of nutrition for themselves and their newborns.
- Gujarat Government focuses on decreasing the infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate with the help of Namo Shree Scheme.
- Namo Shree Scheme is going to be called by major names also after its implementation such as “Gujarat Namo Shri Scheme”, “Gujarat Namo Shree Yojana”, “Gujarat Namo Shree Yojana”, “નમો શ્રી યોજના”.
- In many parts of the country, women prefer delivery at home instead in a hospital due to a lack of awareness and shyness.
- Gujarat Government also try to encourage pregnant women of the state to deliver her baby in hospitals by implementing the Namo Shree Scheme.
- Government of Gujarat will now provide financial assistance in a phased manner to pregnant women till the time she lactate.
- Rs. 12,000/- will be provided to all eligible women from the time of conceiving the child till the time her child completes all the vaccine doses.
- First Instalment under Namo Shree Scheme will be provided to pregnant women after her first antepartum checkup.
- And the last instalment of the Namo Shree Scheme will be provided to pregnant women after she delivers her child in any government or private hospital.
- It is to be hereby reminded that financial assistance under the Gujarat Namo Shree Scheme will only be provided to those women beneficiaries who are ready to deliver their child in any private or government hospital.
- But the benefits of this scheme is not applicable to all pregnant women of the Gujarat Scheme.
- Women belonging to 11 categories as specified by the Government of Gujarat, will only get Rs. 12,000/- as financial assistance under Namo Shree Scheme.
- This financial assistance is a combination of 3 schemes which are “Pradhanmantri Matru Vandana Yojana”, “Kasturba Poshan Sahay Yojana” and “Janani Suraksha Yojana”.
- Those 11 categories which are eligible for financial assistance under the Namo Shree Scheme of the Gujarat Government are mentioned below :-
- Beneficiary Women whose annual family income is not more than Rs. 8,00,000/-.
- MGNREGA Card Holder Women.
- Beneficiary who has E Shram Card.
- Beneficiary of the National Food Security Act. (NFSA)
- Disabled Women.
- Farmer Women.
- BPL Card Holder.
- Beneficiary of PMJAY. (Pradhanmantri Jan Arogya Yojana)
- Scheduled Caste. (SC)
- Scheduled Tribe. (ST)
- Namo Shree Scheme benefit will be provided to an estimated 6 lakh women of Gujarat.
- Budget Amount of Rs. 750/- Crore will be allocated by the Gujarat Government for the proper implementation of the Namo Shree Scheme.
- Eligible Women beneficiaries can enroll themselves by visiting the Anganwadi Centres.
- Anganwadi Worker/ ASHA will register pregnant women in this Scheme by filling in details in the Application Form.
- No Portal of Namo Shree Scheme is available to apply through the Online Application Form.
- In case of any help or assistance is required regarding this scheme, women beneficiary can contact their nearest Anganwadi Worker or ASHA.
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Benefits provided by the Gujarat Government under the Namo Shree Scheme to all eligible lactating mothers and pregnant women of State are as follows :-
- Monetary Assistance will be provided to Lactating mothers and Pregnant Women of Gujarat.
- Women Beneficiary will get Rs. 12,000/- Assistance under Namo Shree Scheme.
- Monetary Assistance will be provided to women in phased manner from her pregnancy to delivery and till she lactates.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Government of Gujarat sets the following eligibility criteria in order to provide the one-time monetary assistance of Rs. 12,000/- to beneficiary women under Namo Shree Scheme :-
- Women Beneficiaries should be residents of Gujarat.
- Women Beneficiaries should be a Lactating Mother or a Pregnant Woman.
- Delivery of a woman’s Child should be in any Private or Government Hospital.
- Only those Women Beneficiaries are eligible to apply who belong to any one of the following category :-
- Scheduled Tribe. (ST)
- Scheduled Caste. (SC)
- Beneficiary of PMJAY.
- BPL Card Holder.
- Farmer Women.
- Disabled Women.
- Beneficiary of the National Food Security Act. (NFSA)
- Beneficiary who has E Shram Card.
- MGNREGA Card Holder Women.
- Beneficiary Women whose annual family income is not more than Rs. 8,00,000/-.
Documents Required to be Attached
- Documents that are required to be attached with the Application Form at the time of applying for financial assistance under the Gujarat Government’s Namo Shree Scheme are as follows :-
- Gujarat Residence Proof or Domicile.
- Women Beneficiary Aadhar Card.
- Proof of Institutional Delivery.
- Women Bank Account Details with IFSC Code.
- Mobile Number of Beneficiary.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Pregnant Women beneficiaries can apply through the Offline Application Form in order to avail the benefit of financial assistance of Rs. 12,000/- under the Namo Shree Scheme.
- Namo Shree Scheme Application Form can be collected from any of the below-mentioned offices :-
- Gram Sabha Office.
- Gram Panchayat Office.
- Anganwadi Centre.
- Collect the Application Form and fill it correctly without making any mistakes.
- Women Beneficiaries will have to attach the required documents with the application form.
- Submit the Application Form with all documents in the same Anganwadi Centre.
- ASHA or Anganwadi Worker will initially scrutinize the received application form and documents.
- List of Eligible and Selected Pregnant Women will be forwarded to the Women and Child Development Department for further scrutiny.
- The concerned department officials will verify the documents and application form further.
- Women Beneficiaries will be notified through SMS on their registered mobile number about their selection.
- Selected Women Beneficiaries will get financial assistance of Rs. 12,000/- under Namo Shree Scheme directly in their bank account in a phased manner.
- Namo Shree Scheme Payment Status and Application Status can be checked by visiting or contacting the ASHA or Anganwadi Sewika at the Anganwadi Centre.
