Introduction of Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme Haryana: A Brief Insight
- Chief Minister of Haryana and also the Finance Minister of State Shri Nayab Singh Saini present the state budget for the year 2025-2026 on 17th of March 2025.
- He announced lots of new welfare schemes for every faction of society which covers all vulnerable group who needs assistance.
- While addressing the house, he said that the number of girl students is very low in STEM Courses.
- STEM Courses are Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
- So to encourage girl students to pursue courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, the Government announced a new educational scholarship scheme.
- The name of the Scheme is “Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme”.
- This is going to be launched from the academic session of 2025-2026.
- The main objective of the Government behind announcing this scheme is to encourage girl students to take admission in Science and Engineering Courses.
- Yearly Scholarships will be provided to all eligible female students under the Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme.
- Each year girl students will get up to Rs. 1,00,000/- scholarship amount under this scheme.
- Scholarship Amounts will vary for undergraduate course girl students and post-graduate girl students.
- Only those girls are eligible for scholarship under this scheme who are currently pursuing their Under Graduate Course or Post Graduate Course in Science or Engineering.
- The amount of scholarship under the Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme of the Haryana Government will be disbursed in monthly installments.
- At present this scheme is only just an announcement and only this much information is available right now from Government sources.
- In the coming days, the official guidelines will be drafted and published it for the public after approval from the cabinet.
- After its implementation, this scheme will be known by some other popular names which are “Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Yojana Haryana”, or “Kalpana Chawla Chatravritti Yojana” or “हरियाणा कल्पना चावला छात्रवृत्ति योजना”.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Government of Haryana will provide the following benefits to all eligible girl students who are currently studying Science or Engineering in thier undergraduate or Post Graduate Course under its newly announced Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme :-
- Yearly Scholarships will be provided to Girl Students.
- Up to Rs. 1,00,000/- per Year will be provided under this Scheme.
- Scholarship Amounts will be Different for Undergraduate and Post Graduate Girls.
- Scholarship will be Disbursed in Installments directly in the bank account of Girl Student.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Scholarship of Rs. 1 Lakh per year under the Haryana Government’s Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme will only provided to those students who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of scheme :-
- Permanent Resident Girl Students of Haryana are Eligible to Apply.
- Girl Students should be currently studying in undergraduate courses or Post Graduate Courses.
- Under Graduate Course or Post Graduate Course Subject should be Science and Engineering.
- The remaining Eligibility Criteria will be released after its launch.

- The expected documents which will be required at the time of applying for a scholarship under the Haryana Government’s Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme are mentioned below :-
- Residence Proof or Domicile of Haryana.
- Student Aadhaar Card.
- Parivar Pehchaan Patra of Family.
- Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
- Class 12th Marksheet and Certificate. (For Undergraduate Course Students)
- Graduation Marksheets and Degree. (For Post Graduate Course Students)
- Mobile Number.
- Family Income Certificate.
How Beneficiaries Can Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Kalpana Chawla Scholarship is announced by the Haryana Government’s Chief Minister and Finance Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini while presenting the State Budget.
- He announced that yearly scholarships will be provided to girl students who are pursuing under graduate courses and post graduate courses in science and engineering within Haryana.
- He further added that this scheme will be implemented in Haryana very soon.
- The concerned Department will soon draft the official guidelines of the Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme.
- The application Process of this scheme will solely decided by the concerned department.
- After drafting the guidelines, this will be put in front of the cabinet for final approval.
- After approval from the Government’s Cabinet, this scheme will be launched in the whole of Haryana.
- At present no application process is known yet, if the application mode is offline then Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme Application Form will be available in concerned colleges and universities.
- If the mode of application is Online, then the government is expected to launch the Official Website of the Kalpana Chawla Scholarship Scheme.
- Girl Students will have to wait a little longer to get a scholarship of Rs. 1 lakh per year under this scheme.
