Introduction of Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Marriage is an expensive affair in everyone’s life.
- A Lot of money is spent by the people on the marriage.
- And if the marriage is of a girl, then a lot of money is needed.
- Every State has its own financial assistance scheme to help the poor girls of the State for their marriage.
- Government of Jammu and Kashmir is also providing cash assistance for the marriage of poor girls in the Union Territory.
- This Scheme is named as Marriage Assistance Scheme of Jammu and Kashmir.
- It was started on December 12th 2015.
- The main objective behind launching the Marriage Assistance Scheme is to help poor brides of Jammu and Kashmir financially for their marriage.
- Jammu and Kashmir Government’s Social Welfare Department is the nodal department of this scheme.
- Rs. 50,000/- (Fifty Thousand Rupees Only) will be provided to brides of Jammu and Kashmir under this Marriage Assistance Scheme.
- Girls family should be a holder of any of the following cards to apply for the financial assistance :-
- Antyodaya Anna Yojana Card.
- PPH (Priority Household) Ration Card.
- Girl Age should be above 18 Years at the time of applying for the Marriage Assistance Scheme.
- Eligible Girls are exempted from the minimum educational qualification of Class 8th or equivalent till 2025.
- After that, it is mandatorily required for a girl to pass Class 8th or equivalent to avail the financial assistance for marriage.
- Eligible Girls can apply for financial assistance 1 month before their marriage.
- Applicant can apply for financial assistance for their marriage under the Marriage Assistance Scheme through Jansugam Portal of Jammu and Kashmir Government.
- The whole process is online, the applicant does not have to submit any hard copy of any documents anywhere.

- The following financial assistance for marriage will be provided to Eligible Girls of Jammu and Kashmir under Marriage Assistance Scheme :-
- Rs. 50,000/- will be provided for the Marriage of a Girl.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- The following eligibility conditions is required to be fulfill to avail the benefit of financial assistance for marriage under Marriage Assistance Scheme :-
- Permanent Residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Applicant should be a Girl.
- The Age of Girl at the time of applying should be above 18 Years.
- Applicant Girl should be 8th Pass or Equivalent.
- Applicant Family should be a holder of any of the following cards :-
- Antyodaya Anna Yojana Card.
- PPH (Priority Household) Ration Card.

- The following documents will be required to apply for financial assistance for marriage under the Marriage Assistance Scheme of Jammu and Kashmir :-
- Residence Proof Jammu and Kashmir.
- Applicant Aadhar Card.
- Photograph of Applicant.
- Mobile Number and Email ID.
- Bank Account Details.
- Applicant Age Proof. (Birth Certificate)
- Invitation Card of Marriage.
- Copy of any of the following card :-
- Antyodaya Anna Yojana Card.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Eligible Girls can apply for the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s Marriage Assistance Scheme online through Jansugam Portal of Jammu and Kashmir Government.
- First Girls have to Register themselves by entering the following details :-
- Full Name.
- Email ID.
- Mobile Number.
- Enter Password of Applicant’s Choice.
- After successful registration Login on the same portal with your mobile number and chosen password.
- Click on the Apply for Services Tab and choose the Marriage Assistance Scheme.
- Fill the below-mentioned details step wise :-
- Personal Details of Applicant.
- Present and Permanent Address of Applicant.
- Bank Account Details.
- Upload the Required Documents.
- Preview the form carefully and submit it.
- The submitted Application Form will be forwarded to the District Social Welfare Officer for verification.
- District Social Welfare Officer thoroughly scrutinized the Application Form along with the Documents.
- Then the Application will be forwarded to the District Commissioner for further approval.
- District Commissioner Officer will then forward the accepted applications to the Department of Social Welfare of the Jammu and Kashmir Government for disbursal of financial assistance.
- Applicant will receive the financial assistance for their marriage in the given bank account details.
- Applicant can also Track their Application of the Marriage Assistance Scheme by entering the application number on Jansugam Portal.
