Introduction of Bhagyalakshmi Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme is a social welfare scheme of the Karnataka Government started for the girls of the State.
- This scheme was launched in the year 2023.
- The reason behind starting the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme is to stop the girl child killing, and encourage them to complete their basic education.
- Karnataka Government’s Women and Child Development Department is the responsible department of this scheme.
- Under this Scheme, the Government of Karnataka fixes some amount in the name of the girl child at the time of her birth and provides them when she attains the age of 18 years.
- Rs. 19,300/- will be fixed deposited by the Karnataka Government in the name of the first girl child at the time of her birth, and she will receive Rs. 1,00,097/- when she attains the age of 18 years.
- Likewise, Rs. 18,350/- will be fixed deposited by the Karnataka Government in the name second girl child at the time of her birth, and she will receive Rs. 1,00,052/- when she attains the age of 18 years.
- Financial Assistance under the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme of the Karnataka Government is only applicable for the first 2 girl children per family.
- The girl can only claim the amount deposited in her name once she has completed the age of 18 years.
- It is up to the beneficiary to use this financial assistance on her higher education or on her marriage expenses.
- It is mandatory for a girl to be 18 years of age, have passed minimum class 8th, and be unmarried at the time of claiming the maturity amount under the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme.
- Maturity Amount received by a girl after attaining the age of 18 years under Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme are :-
Category Maturity Amount First Girl Child Rs. 1,00,097/- Second Girl Child Rs. 1,00,052/- - All the money deposited in the name of the girl child will be deposited with LIC. (Life Insurance Corporation of India)
- All the maturity claims received under the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme will be settled by Life Insurance Corporation of India. (LIC)
- Right now, there is no Online Application Process is available for the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme.
- Eligible Parents of a Girl Child can avail the benefit of this scheme by filling Offline Application Form.
Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Government of Karnataka will provide the following benefits to eligible families under the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme :-
- Financial Assistance will be provided at the time of girl child’s Birth.
- Karnataka Government deposited Rs. 19,300/- in the Name of the First Girl Child at the time of her birth.
- And when a Girl attains the Age of 18 Years, a Maturity Amount of Rs. 1,00,052/- will be provided to the Girl.
- Same as, Rs. 18,350/- will be deposited by the Karnataka Government in the name of the Second Girl Child at her birth.
- And when the Second Girl attains the Age of 18 Years, a Maturity Amount of Rs. 1,00,052/- will be provided to the Girl.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- The below-mentioned eligibility conditions is set by the Karnataka Government in order to avail the benefit of the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme :-
- Parents of a Girl Child should be Permanent residents of Karnataka.
- Only BPL Families are Eligible to Apply.
- Girls born after 01-08-2008 are Eligible for Financial Assistance.
- Financial Assistance will be limited to only 2 Girl children per Family.
Documents Required to be Attached
- The following documents is required at the time of applying for the Karnataka Government’s Bhagyalakshmi Scheme :-
- Domicile or Residence Proof of Karnataka.
- Aadhar Card of Parents.
- Child Birth Certificate.
- Self Declaration of Parents or Marriage Certificate.
- BPL Card.
- Parents and Child Joint Photograph.
- Certificate of Family Planning. (If Applying for 2nd Child)
- Bank Account Details. (At the Time of Maturity Claim)
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Eligible Parents of a Girl Child can enroll their girl child in the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme of the Karnataka Government by filling Offline Application Form.
- Offline Application Form of Bhagyalakshmi Scheme is available free of cost at any of the following offices :-
- Office of Gram Panchayat.
- Anganwadi Center.
- Collect the Bhagyalakshmi Yojana Application Form and fill it.
- Attach all the required documents with the application form.
- And submit the application form along with all the documents in the office of the Gram Panchayat or Anganwadi Center.
- Officials from the Department of Women and Child Development of the Karnataka Government will verify the received applications.
- After verification, the initial amount of Rs. 19,300/- and Rs. 18,350/- will be deposited in the name of the first and second girl child, respectively.
Maturity Claim Procedure of Scheme
- Once the girl child attains the age of 18 years, she is eligible to claim the amount deposited in her name under the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme.
- Girl Child has to fill the maturity claim form of the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme in order to claim the amount.
- Bhagyalakshmi Scheme Maturity Claim Form is available at Anganwadi Center or Gram Panchayat Office or from the nearest LIC Office.
- The eligibility conditions that needed to be fulfilled at the time of claiming the maturity amount under the Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme are :-
- Girl should complete the Age of 18 Years.
- The Minimum Qualification of a Girl should be Class 8th Passed
- Girl should be Unmarried at the time of claiming the Maturity Amount.
- Take the claim form, fill it correctly, and attach all the required documents with it.
- Now submit the Claim Form in the same office of the Gram Panchayat or Anganwadi Center.
- Maturity Claim Form and Documents are subject to scrutiny.
- After verification, the maturity amount will be transferred in the bank account of girl.
