Introduction of Karnataka Gruha Jyothi Scheme: A Brief Insight

Government of Karnataka launched lots of social welfare schemes for the welfare ofthe people of Karnataka belong to all the factions of society.
But now Karnataka Government is changed and Congress Party forms the Government.
Congress Party wins the assembly election of Karnataka in 2023.
During the Assembly Election Campaigning, Indian National Congress Party announced 5 major welfare schemes for the people of Karnataka.
One of the welfare scheme for Every Household was Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
Gruha Jyothi Scheme is going to be the life changing scheme for every household of Karnataka State.
The main aim behind launching this Scheme is to provide free of cost domestic electricity to households of Karnataka to reduce their burden in the time of inflation.
The tagline of this scheme is “Free Power to Empower”.
Gruha Jyothi Scheme has some other popular names also which are “Free Electricity Scheme Karnataka” or “Griha Jyoti Scheme Karnataka”.
Under this scheme, Government of Karnataka is going to provide free of cost electricity to every eligible household of Karnataka.
The maximum permissible limit to get free-of-cost electricity is within 200 Units of electricity per month.
Means, every household of Karnataka will get benefit of free of cost electricity who consume 200 Units of Electricity per month.
Only those household are eligible to get zero electricity bill whose monthly domestic electricity consumption is not more than 200 Units.
Only Domestic Electricity Connection Holders of Karnataka is eligible to get free of cost electricity, no commercial connection holder are eligible to apply.
Tenants are also eligible to avail the benefit of this scheme. For this they have to submit the rent agreement.
Till date more than 1 crore household are registered under Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
Government of Karnatak also introduced an facility for tenant beneficiaries to D-Link Gruha Jyothi Scheme if they are changing their house.
This D-Link facility will make sure that they will receive the benefits of the Gruha Jyothi Scheme even after moving of their house from one place to another within Karnataka.
To avail the benefits of free of cost electricity per month up to 200 units under Gruha Jyothi Scheme, eligible beneficiaries can apply through Offline Application Form and through Online Application Form.
Online Application Form is available on Seva Sindhu Website.
And Offline Application Form are available at Grama One, Bangalore One and Karnataka One Centres.
The beneficiary can also call on 1912 in case of any assistance or help required regarding the scheme.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

Karnataka Government will provide the following benefits to all eligible beneficiaries under its Gruha Jyothi Scheme :-

Monthly Electricity without any cost will be provided to Beneficiaries.
Beneficiary Households does not have to pay Electricity Bills.
200 Units per month Electricity Consumption is Free for Beneficiary Households.
Electricity Department will issue zero electricity bills to every eligible households who consume less than 200 units of electricity per month.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

The following eligibility conditions is set by Karnataka Government for the beneficiaries in order to provide them the benefit of Monthly Free Electricity up to 200 units under Gruha Jyothi Scheme :-

Beneficiary Household Should be a Permanent Resident of Karnataka State.
Beneficiary Household Should have Valid Domestic Electricity Connection.
Beneficiary Household should have Consumed 200 Units of Monthly Electricity.

The below mentioned documents will be required to be submitted in order to avail the benefit of free of cost electricity up to 200 units per month under Karnataka Government’s Gruha Jyothi Scheme :-

Any One Residence Proof of Karnataka :-
- Domicile of Karnataka.
- Voter Identity Card.
- Passport.
Aadhar Card of Electricity Connection Holder.
Latest Electricity Bill.
Lease or Rent Agreement for Tenant Beneficiary.
Mobile Number and Email.

Through Offline Application Form

Benefits of 200 units of electricity free of cost per month under Gruha Jyothi Scheme of Karnataka Government can be availed by applying through Offline Application Form.
Gruha Jyothi Scheme Offline Application Form can be collected from Grama One, Karnataka One and Bangalore One Centres.
Take the application form and fill it correctly without any mistake.
Attach all the required documents with the application form.
Application Forms and Documents will be submitted in any of the above-mentioned centres or directly at Energy Department Office.
Energy Distribution Company will then verify the recieved application form and documents.
Selected Beneficiary will then get zero electricity bills under Gruha Jyothi Scheme if they consume monthly electricity of 200 units per month.
Gruha Jyothi Scheme Application Status can be check online on Seva Sindhu Portal with the help of Application ID.

Through Online Application Form

The other way to avail the benefit of free of cost electricity up to 200 units per month under Gruha Jyothi Scheme through Online Application Form.
Gruha Jyothi Scheme Online Application Form can be accessed on Seva Sindhu Website of Karnataka Government.
Visit Seva Sindhu Portal and Choose Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
Click on Register for the Gruha Jyoti Scheme.
Fill the below mentioned details in the Online Application Form :-
Seva Sindhu Portal will then verify the Aadhaar Number and Mobile Number of beneficiary through OTP authentication.
After checking all the details, Click on Submit Button to the submit the application form.
Officials of Energy Department will scrutinized the application form and electricity connection details.
After verification, zero amount electricity bill will be issued to all beneficiaries under Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
Application Status of Gruha Jyothi Scheme can be checked with the help of Account ID on Seva Sindhu Portal.

D-Linking of Gruha Jyothi Scheme Karnataka

To D-Link Gruha Jyothi Scheme at the time of changing the house, beneficiary tenants will have to visit the Seva Sindhu Portal and have to Select Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
After that select D-Link Gruha Jyothi Scheme.
Enter your registered Aadhaar Number and the Portal will D-Link the RR with the current electricity connection number.
