Introduction of Karnataka Madilu Kit Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Karnataka Government started a lot of welfare schemes for pregnant women like :- Thayi Bhagya Scheme and Thayi Bhagya Plus Scheme.
- Another major welfare scheme for pregnant women is the Madilu Kit Scheme, which is a sub-scheme under the “Samagra Mathru Arogya Palane Scheme”.
- It was started by the Government of Karnataka on October 1st 2007.
- The main aim behind launching the Madilu Kit Scheme is to promote institutional deliveries by providing daily items to the mother and her New Born Child.
- Government of Karnataka will provide daily care items to women beneficiaries under the Madilu Kit Scheme.
- Madilu Kit contains 19 items which can be used by the beneficiary after delivery for her and her child and the cost of Madilu Kit is around Rs. 1,500/-.
- Madilu Kit will be provided to only those women who deliver their child in the Government Hospital.
- Government Hospital should also cover the following health care institutes :-
- Public Health Care Institution.
- Community Health Care Institution.
- Hospitals in Talukas.

- The following eligibility criteria are required to get the benefit of the Madilu Kit Scheme of Karnataka :-
- Women Beneficiaries should be permanent residents of Karnataka.
- Child of a Women Beneficiary should be born in a Government Hospital.
- Women Beneficiaries should belong to the BPL Category.
- Women Beneficiaries should belong to any of the following caste :-
- Scheduled Caste.
- Scheduled Tribe.

- The below mentioned documents is required to avail the benefit of Karnataka Government’s Madilu Kit Scheme :-
- Domicile of Karnataka or Any Residence Proof.

- There is no need to apply separately for the Karnataka Government’s Madilu Kit Scheme.
