Introduction of Thayi Bhagya Plus Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Government of Karnataka started lots of welfare schemes in the state for the welfare of every section of society.
- Thayi Bhagya Plus Scheme is also one of the major welfare schemes of the Government of Karnataka.
- It was launched by the Karnataka Government in the year 2010.
- The main objective behind launching the Thayi Bhagya Scheme is to provide financial assistance to women of Karnataka State to cover the medical expenses incurred on childbirth.
- The Women and Child Welfare Department of Karnataka is the responsible department of this scheme.
- Thayi Bhagya Plus has its own unique meaning in which “Thayi” means “Mother”, “Bhagya” means “Future” and “Plus” means “Extended Help”.

- Only Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Women belonging to the Below Poverty Line are eligible to avail the benefit of financial assistance under Thayi Bhagya Plus Scheme.
- Right now, there is no Online Application Form for the Thayi Bhagya Plus Scheme is available.
- Beneficiary Women can also avail the benefits of the “Madilu Kit Scheme”.
- Women beneficiaries can avail of the benefit of this Scheme by filling the Offline Application Form which are available at Anganwadi Centers.

- Financial Assistance for Delivering the Child in a Non-Empaneled Private Hospital.
- Rs. 1,000/- Assistance will be provided.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- The following eligibility conditions are required to be fulfilled in order to avail the benefit of Thayi Bhagya Plus Scheme :-
- Women beneficiaries should be Permanent residents of Karnataka.
- Child of a Women Beneficiary should be born in an empaneled Private Hospital.
- Women beneficiaries should belong to the BPL Category.
- Women Beneficiary should belong to any of the following caste :-
- Scheduled Caste.
- Scheduled Tribe.
Documents Required to be Attached
- The documents mentioned below are required to avail of the benefit of Karnataka Government’s Thayi Bhagya Plus Scheme :-
- Domicile of Karnataka or Any Residence Proof.
- Any of the following mentioned card :-
- BPL Card.
- Ration Card.
- Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribe Certificate.
- Pregnant Women’s Aadhar Card.
- ANC Number.
- Mobile Number.
- Details of Bank Account.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Eligible Women Beneficiaries can apply for the Thayi Bhagya Plus Scheme by filling the Offline Application Form after delivering her child in an empaneled Private Hospital.
- Offline Application Form of Thayi Bhagya Plus Scheme is available at any Anganwadi Centre or at the Community Health Centre.
- ASHA Worker or Junior Health Officer present at the Anganwadi Centre will help the women beneficiaries to fill the Application Form of Thayi Bhagya Scheme.
- Then the Application will be forwarded to the Department of Women and Child Welfare of the Karnataka Government for approval.
- After Verification, the financial assistance of Rs. 1,000/- will be transferred to the given bank account of the women beneficiary.
