Introduction of Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme Karnataka: A Brief Insight

• To promote self-employment in Karnataka State, the Government started a new scheme named “Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme.
• The main objective of the government behind starting this scheme is to ensure that more and more people opt for self-employment to generate income on their own.
• This scheme is started for Minorities, Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Class category people.
• Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme is implemented by the respective corporation of above mentioned categories.
• Karnataka Government will provide a subsidy on the purchase of commercial vehicles for self-employment purposes under the Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme.
• Beneficiaries can avail the benefit of subsidy from the Karnataka Government on the purchase of any of the following commercial vehicle :-
  • Tour Taxi.
  • Passenger Auto Rickshaw.
  • Goods Vehicle.
• Subsidy on the purchase of above mentioned vehicle is different for each category of applicant.
• Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Applicant will get a Subsidy of Rs. 4,00,000/- or 75% of Vehicle Price at the time of purchase.
• However, Minority and Other Backward Class applicants will get Rs. 3,00,000/- or 50% of the Vehicle Price as a Subsidy under Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme of Karnataka Government.
• Subsidy on the purchase of Passenger Auto Rickshaw is the same for everyone, Rs. 75,000/- subsidy will be provided under this scheme.
• The remaining amount of the vehicle will be covered through a Bank Loan, which is available at a reasonable interest rate.
• If the age of the applicant is below 18 years or more than 55 years, then they are not eligible to apply for subsidy under this scheme.
• Valid Driving License is mandatorily needed at the time of application.
• Annual Income limit for beneficiaries is Rs. 4,50,000/- per year.
• If any applicant avails the benefit of any scheme from a respective corporation in the last 5 years, then they are not eligible to apply for vehicle subsidy under Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme of the Government of Karnataka.
• Beneficiary Applicant will have to submit an affidavit that he/ she cannot sell the purchased vehicle.
• The other major and popular names of this scheme are “Swawalambi Sarathi Yojana Karnataka” or “Swavalambi Sarathi Scheme Karnataka” or “Karnataka Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Scheme”.
• Minority Category Applicant can apply for a subsidy under the Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme through the Online Application Form.
• Other category applicants can apply for this scheme through the website of their respective corporations.
• Minority Applicants can also apply for the Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme through the Mobile App of KMDC Online.
  

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries

• Karnataka Government will provide the below-mentioned benefits to all selected applicants under its Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme :-
  

  Subsidy will be provided on the purchase of a Commercial Vehicle for self-employment activity. The following vehicles are eligible for subsidy under Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme :- Taxi. Good Vehicle. Passenger Auto Rickshaw. Rs. 4 Lakh or 75% Subsidy on Vehicle Cost whichever is lower will be provided to Schedule Tribe and Schedule Caste Applicant. Applicants from Minority and Other Backward Class will get Rs. 3 Lakh or 50% Subsidy on Vehicle Cost, whichever is lower. For Passenger Auto Rickshaw, the Subsidy Amount if Rs. 75,000/-. Remaining Cost of the Vehicle will be available through Bank Loans.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Subsidy on the purchase of vehicle under the Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme will only be provided to those eligible beneficiaries who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of scheme :-
  

  Permanent Resident of Karnataka are Eligible to Apply. Beneficiary should belong to any of the following groups:- Schedule Tribe. Schedule Caste. Other Backward Class. Minority Community. Having a Driving License is Mandatory. Beneficiary Age should be more than 18 years and less than 55 years. Beneficiary Family Annual Income should be less than Rs. 4,50,000/- per year. No Family Member should be in Central or State Government Service. Beneficiary should not have availed any scheme benefits in the last 5 years from KMDC.

Documents Required to be Attached

• Beneficiary will have to upload the following documents on the portal at the time of applying for subsidy on the purchase of a vehicle under the Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme of Karnataka Government :-
  • Beneficiary Aadhaar Card.
  • Bank Account Details with IFSC Code.
  • Quotation of Vehicle from Dealer.
  • Self Declaration Form.
  • Minority Certificate.
  • Beneficiary Driving License.
  • Family Income Certificate.
  • 2 Recent Color Passport Size Photographs.
  • Mobile Number and Email.

How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme

• Government of Karnataka provides the facility to apply online for the Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme.
• KMDCL Online Application Management Portal of Karnataka Government accepts the Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme Online Application Form for Minority Category Applicants.
• Applicants from Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Class can fill the application form of this scheme through their respective corporation websites.
• Open the KMDCL Online Application Management Portal and Choose the Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme or Click on Apply Online.
  
• Beneficiary will have to enter their Aadhaar linked mobile Number and click on Submit.
  
• Aadhaar Number of the Beneficiary Applicant will be verified through OTP.
  
• Select Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme after verification.
• Fill the personal details, contact details in the Online Application Form of Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme and upload all the required documents on the portal.
• Check all the filled details and click on the Submit Button to submit it.
• Registration ID will be issued by the portal, which will be noted down for future reference.
• Selection Panel fromthe  respective development corporation limited will verify the received application forms and make a list of eligible beneficiaries.
• Subsidy Amount will be directly released in favour of vehicle dealers.
• Swawalambi Sarathi Scheme Application Status can be checked with Mobile Number or Registration ID and Date of Birth.
  
• Contact your respective Development Corporation Limited office for any help regarding the scheme.
