Introduction of Maharashtra Baby Care Kit Scheme: A Brief Insight

• The Maharashtra Government launched a major welfare scheme for mothers and children named “Baby Care Kit Scheme” in the year 2019.
• The main aim of the government behind launching this scheme is to encourage childbirth at government hospitals and to reduce the infant mortality rate in the state.
• This scheme also improves the nutritional and health status of the Mother and the newborn baby.
• This scheme is implemented by the Maharashtra Government’s Women and Child Development.
• The government will provide daily health care items for the baby to lactating mothers under the Baby Care Kit Scheme.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled

• Baby Care Kit worth Rs. 2,000/- will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Maharashtra Government’s Baby Care Kit Scheme :-
  • Permanent Resident Pregnant Women of Maharashtra are Eligible to Apply.
  • Registration in a Government Hospital or a Government Primary Health Centre is necessary.
  • Registration will be done during the 9^th month of Pregnancy.
  • Women Beneficiaries can also apply after 2 months of delivery.
  • In a Special case, those women are also eligible who deliver their child in a Private Hospital.

• There is no online application process or official website of the Baby Care Kit Scheme of the Maharashtra Government is available through which pregnant women can apply.
• The only way to apply to get a baby care kit under this scheme is through an Offline Application Form.
