Introduction of Maharashtra Lek Ladki Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Maharashtra Government’s Lek Ladki Scheme is the Flagship Scheme of the government, which was launched in the year 2023.
- Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Sh. Eknath Shinde Ji announced this scheme in his 2023-2024 budget speech.
- It is going to be one of the major welfare schemes for the girls in Maharashtra.
- This scheme is implemented by the Maharashtra Government’s Women and Child Development Department.
- Under the Lek Ladki Scheme, the Government of Maharashtra will provide financial assistance of Rs. 1,01,000/- to the eligible girls in the state at different stages of life.
- Girl Beneficiaries will get the financial assistance of Rs. 1,01,000/- under Lek Ladki Yojana in 5 different phases of life as mentioned below :-
- First Phase :- Rs. 5,000/- when Girl Child Born.
- Second Phase :- Rs. 6,000/- when the Girl takes Admission in Class 1st.
- Third Phase :- Rs. 7,000/- when the Girl takes Admission in Class 6th.

- This money will be used by the girl to complete her studies and pursue higher education without thinking the expenses in her head.
- Families holding yellow and orange ration cards are eligible to apply under the Maharashtra Lek Ladki Scheme. The
- Maharashtra Government on 10-10-2023, approved to start the Lek Ladki Yojana in Maharashtra.
- If the annual family income of the girl’s family is more than Rs. 1 lakh, then she is not eligible to apply for the Lek Ladki Scheme.
- Eligible Families can apply through their area’s Anganwadi Worker by submitting the Lek Ladki Yojana Application Form at the Anganwadi Centers.

- Parents of a Girl Child should be Permanent residents of Maharashtra.
- Yellow or Saffron (Orange) Ration Card Holder Households.
- Birth of a Girl Child should be on or after 1st of April 2023.
