Introduction of MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Central Government’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology started one of a kind internship scheme for students named “Digital India Internship Scheme.
- The main purpose of this scheme is to provide first-hand and practical work experience to youths under the guidance of experienced mentors.
- Digital India Internship Scheme will be implemented solely by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
- Short-term internship opportunities to youths of the country will be provided by the ministry under its MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme.
- Interns selected for an internship under this scheme will get guidance under the mentorship of experienced government officials.
- Selected Interns will receive a short-term internship of 2 months which will be further extended up to 3 months with a monthly token stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month.
- Internship will be provided basically in the technology field so students pursuing technical courses in the field of IT are eligible to apply for internship under MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme.
- If any student has less than 60% marks in their previous examination, then they are not eligible to apply for an internship.
- The location of the internship is in New Delhi, intern will have to arrange their own accommodation accordingly.
- Each individual intern or batch of interns will have a Scientific/ Technical Project Supervisor or Mentor from the Ministry.
- Interns will also receive a Certificate of Completion of Internship from the Ministry after successful completion of their internship.
- It is a must for each intern to submit a Report/ Paper to their supervisor/ mentor at the end of the internship.
- For the year 2025, registration for the MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme is closed.
- The last day of registration was the 25th of April 2025.
- However, Interested Students can apply for “PM Internship Scheme” in which an internship opportunity will be provided in the top 500 companies of India.
- If any applicant has a graduate or postgraduate degree in engineering, then they also apply for a 6-month internship under NeGD Technical Internship Programme.

Benefits Provided to Eligible Beneficiaries
- Interns will receive the following benefits from the government under the MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme :-
- 2-month internship will be provided to Selected Interns.
- An experienced Supervisor/ Mentor will guide the Interns throughout the Internship Period.
- Monthly Token Stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month will be paid to Interns.
- Selected Interns will receive a Certificate of Internship after successful completion of the Internship.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- 2 months internship with Ministry of Information and Technology along with a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month will be provided to those applicants who fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme :-
- Indian Citizens are only Eligible to apply.
- Applicant students should have secured at least 60% marks in their previous examination.
- Applicant Student should be pursuing/ currently studying in any one of the below-mentioned educational courses :-

MCA DOEACC ‘B’ Level LLB Bachelor’s in Economics and Statistics - Students whose Last Semester is remaining are not eligible to apply for an Internship.
- It is mandatory to have at least 1 year of course remaining.
- The location of the Internship is in Delhi.

- Applicant Students will have to upload the following documents at the time of applying for internship under MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme :-
- Certificate of Class 10th.
- Certificate of Class 12th.
- Marksheet of the Maximum Educational Qualification.
- Color Photograph.
- Scanned Signature.
- Recommendation from the Sponsoring Institute.
- Email ID.
- Mobile Number.
- Bank Account Number with IFSC Code.
How Beneficiaries Can Apply to Avail the Benefit of this Scheme
- Interested and Eligible students can apply for an Internship under the MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme through Online Application Form.
- Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has developed a dedicated portal for candidates through which they can apply online for an internship.
- Visit the MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme Official Website.
- Click on Register and enter the following details on the registration form :-

- Choose Password
- Enter Captcha and click on the Register button.
- Portal will send the OTP for verification to the registered email address.
- Login to the portal with your Email ID and Password.
- After Login, the MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme Online Application Form will appear on the screen, which is divided into 3 sections.
- The first section is of Personal Details in which the applicant student will have to fill in the following details :-

- Applicant Student can select a maximum any 2 preferences for internship under the Digital India Internship Scheme of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
- It is mandatory to provide 2 distinct references with their Designations.
- After filling in all the details, upload all the required documents on the portal.
- Click on submit button to finally submit the online application form of MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme.
- An acknowledgement letter with a unique reference number will be generated by the website after successful submission of the application form.
- MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme Application Status can be tracked by students on the portal by entering their Application Reference Number and Registered Email ID.
- Students selected for an internship will receive an Internship Offer Letter from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
- It is mandatory to confirm the internship offer; thereafter student will receive a Confirmation Letter.

Interns Selection Process
- After submitting the online application form, the officials of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will scrutinize the forms.
- Selection of interns will be done through a Personal or Skype Interview.
- Students attending the personal interview are not entitled to any TA/ DA.
- On the basis of the results of the interview, the list of selected interns will be released and published on the website.
- Ministry will issue the Internship Offer Letter to selected interns via their email.
- Interns selected under the MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme will have to confirm the internship offer.
- Those students who confirm the internship offer will receive a Confirmation Letter from the ministry to join as an intern.
