Introduction of Punjab Disability Pension Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Physically Handicapped People faced lots of difficulties in their lives, and the major problem they faced is financially.
- Due to their physical appearance, they are not capable of doing any kind of work and earning a living for themselves.
- Seeing all these hardships, the Punjab Government started the “Disability Pension Scheme” in the State.
- Punjab Government’s main objective behind starting this scheme is to provide financial support to disabled people and make them self-reliant financially.
- This scheme is implemented by Social Security and Women & Child Development Department of the Government of Punjab.
- Monthly financial assistance as a pension will be provided to all eligible disabled people in the state.
- Each Disabled Beneficiary will get Rs. 1,500/- per month pension from the Government under Disability Pension Scheme, more fully known as the Punjab Handicapped Pension Scheme.
- Earlier, the pension amount was very low then the government increased it to Rs. 1,500/- per month along with the amount of the Ashirwad (Shagun) Scheme.
- The annual family income limit is Rs. 60,000/- per year. If any applicant has a yearly income of more than that amount, then they are not eligible to apply monthly disability pension under this scheme.
- Persons having disability percentage of 50% or more are only eligible to apply for a monthly pension under the Handicapped Pension Scheme of Punjab.

- Disabled (Handicapped) Beneficiary of Punjab who has 50% or more disability will get the following benefits from the Government under the Punjab Disability Pension Scheme :-
- Per month pension will be provided to the Applicant for financial support.
- Beneficiary will get Rs. 1,500/- per Month Pension directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank Account.
Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- Punjab Government will provide per-month pension of Rs. 1,500/- under its Disability Pension Scheme to those applicants who meet the following eligibility conditions of the scheme :-
- Permanent Resident Disabled (Handicapped) People of Punjab are Eligible to Apply.
- Disability Percentage should be 50% or More.
- Annual Family Income of the Beneficiary Disabled Person should be less than Rs. 60,000/- per year.
- Applicant Disabled Person should have less than 200 Square meters in an Urban Area.
- Disabled Person having owned any one area of the following mentioned land are also eligible to apply for per month disabled pension :-
- Maximum 2.5 acres of Nehri/ Chahi Land, OR
- Maximum 5 acres of land in the Waterlogged Area, OR
- Maximum 5 acres of Barani Land.

- Eligible Disabled People of the State of Punjab can apply Rs. 1,500/- per month pension through the Online Application Form.
- Punjab Disability Pension Scheme Online Application Form is available on the Digital Punjab Portal.
- The beneficiary will have to visit the Portal and click on Apply Services or Register Now.
- The following details will be filled in the Registration Form of Disability Pension Scheme Punjab :-
- Login with your Mobile Number and the Password you have chosen.
- Select the Disability Pension Scheme and fill in the personal details, contact details, and bank account details.
- The beneficiary will have to upload all the needed documents on the portal.
- Click on the Submit Button to submit the application form.
- Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) and the District Social Security Officer (DSSO) of the respective district will verify the received Punjab Disability Pension Scheme Online Application Form and Documents.
- A list of eligible disabled persons will be forwarded to the respective department for final approval.
