Introduction of Punjab Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Punjab Government’s cabinet gave its approval to launch the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme in the state on 06-11-2023.
- And, the Punjab Government officially launched the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme on 27-11-2023 on the auspicious occasion of Guru Parv.
- Department of Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management of the Punjab Government is the implementing department of this scheme.
- Punjab Government will now provide a facility to people of the state to visit famous and sacred religious places across the country free of cost.
- All the expenses incurred on Travel, Accommodation, and Food will be borne by the Government of Punjab.
- Devotees can choose the religious place of their own choice and avail the benefit of a free of cost visit under the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme.
- Travelling under this scheme will be done in AC Buses and AC Train Coaches and the accommodation facility will be arranged in a 3 Star Hotel.
- Further, the Government will also provide a Tirth Yatra Kit under Mukhyamantri Nishulk Tirth Yatra Scheme which includes Comb, Oil, Blanket, Towel, Mirror, Toothpaste, Mala, Shampoo, Umbrella and Bedsheet.
- Residents of Punjab having age 50 years or more is eligible to apply under the Mukh Mantri Tirth Yatra Yojana of the Punjab Govt and avail the benefit of a free of cost visit to famous religious places across India without any cost.
- The facility of taking the attendant is also available if the age of the applicant is 75 years or more.
- It is mandatory for an applicant to be medically sound and fit to travel under this scheme.
- Beneficiary Applicant will have to attest the Application Form from the Medical Officer, MLA or Minister before submitting it.
- Punjab Government allocated Rs. 100 crore for the smooth implementation of Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana in the state.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- The facility of free-of-cost visit to famous religious places across India will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfil the below mentioned eligibility criteria of Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme :-
- Permanent Resident Applicants of Punjab are eligible to apply.
- The Age of Beneficiary Applicant should be 50 years or more.
- Applicant should be medically fit to travel by train and bus.

Online Application Procedure
- Eligible Applicants can visit the famous religious places across India under the Punjab Government’s Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme by registering themselves under it.
- Registration under the Mukhya Mantri Tirth Yatra Scheme will be done through the Sewa Kendras.
- The beneficiary applicant will have to visit their nearest Sewa Kendra with all their documents.
- The operator present at the Sewa Kendra will fill the Online Application Form of Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme on behalf of beneficiary applicant.
- An acknowledgement receipt will be provided by the operator of Sewa Kendra after successful submission of the online application form.
