Introduction of Tamil Nadu Unemployment Assistance Scheme: A Brief Insight
- Tamil Nadu Unemployment Assistance Scheme is the major welfare scheme of Tamil Nadu Government.
- It was started in the year 2006.
- The main objective behind launching the Tamil Nadu Unemployment Assistance Scheme is to provide financial assistance to unemployed youth till they find employment.
- This scheme is also known as Tamil Nadu Unemployment Allowance Scheme.
- Department of Employment and Training is the Nodal Department of Tamil Nadu Unemployment Assistance Scheme.
- Monthly Unemployment Allowance or Monthly Financial Assistance will be provided to eligible youth of the State under Tamil Nadu Unemployment Assistance Scheme.
- The financial assistance will be varied according to the educational qualification of the applicant.
- Registration in any Employment Exchange of Tamil Nadu for 5 Years is mandatory to apply for unemployment assistance.
- There is an exemption for Disabled Application in registration.
- The registration needed in any Employment Exchange for a Disabled Applicant is 1 Year.
- Once the applicant gets a job, the financial assistance to applicant will be stopped immediately.
- Eligible Applicant will apply in their District Employment Exchange by Application Form to avail the benefit of Tamil Nadu Unemployment Assistance Scheme.

Eligibility Conditions Required to be Fulfilled
- The following eligibility condition is set by the Tamil Nadu Government to provide the benefit of TN Unemployment Assistance Scheme to unemployed youths :-
- Applicant will be a Resident of Tamil Nadu.
- The Annual Family Income should be below Rs. 72,000/-.
- The Age of Applicant should be :-
- 40 Year for General Category Applicant.
- 45 Years for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Applicant.
- Applicant must have 5 year old registration in employment Exchange.
- Applicant should not be a regular student.
- Applicant should not be in any kind of employment.
- No Income Limit and Maximum Age Limit for Disabled Applicant.
- Disabled Candidate Registration in Employment Exchange should be 1 year.

- Application Forms are available free of cost in any District Employment Exchange Center.
- Filled the Application Form neatly and attached all the required documents.
- Submit the Application Form along with the Documents in your District Employment Exchange Center.
- Application Form and Documents will be scrutinized by the Employment Exchange Officials.
- Applicant will get reminder in their mobile number or email once the application verified and accepted.
- Once accepted, the financial assistance under Tamil Nadu Unemployment Assistance Scheme will be transferred into applicant bank account every month.

- Applicant can apply online through Tamil Nadu Department of Employment and Training Portal for their employment exchange registration.
- First they have Register themselves by entering their personal details.
- Once registered then Login in the same portal.
- The applicant has to fill the following information in 4 steps :-

- Click on Submit after filling all the details correctly.
- After that poral generates the applicant’s employment exchange registration details.
Key Features of Scheme
- Unemployment Allowance under Tamil Nadu Unemployment Assistance Scheme will be provided for 3 Years for Normal Category Applicant.
- Whereas for Disabled Applicant the financial assistance under Tamil Nadu Unemployment Assistance Scheme will be provided for 10 Years.
- Employment Exchange Registration for 5 Years for Normal Category Applicant and 1 Year for Disabled Category Applicant is mandatorily needed.
- The applicant has to give a self-declaration affidavit every year as a proof of unemployment.
